Default Speedo cable swap

Does a speedo cable from an 02 wrx and up fit a 93 JDM wrx?

there is no speedo cable on an 02 WRX. for JDM imprezas, v4 and up were electronic speed sensors (no cable).

but if it will better answer your question.

yes they will fit. if you pull the cable out the VSS will screw right in like wise, if you pull the VSS you can screw a cable in.

i am currently running a 1987 cable into a 2003 JDM Speed. and before that i had ti running into a 96 JDM 5 spee. and it works just fine.

Yup like suberdave said it will screw rite in. I was running a 06 Impreza-i manual trans in a 91 Legacy SS.

VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor. It depends on what vehicle you are taking it out of. In the older cars, there is a VSS built into the speedometer gauge that the cable attaches to.

To answer your original question, probably not. I think the older one uses a cable where the newer ones are done by electric sensors.
