Default ECU Swaps and VINs

Hey folks!
Quick question about swaps, and what measures need to be taken to make sure the car is legal, with the right VIN in the right places.

The 2 cars in question:
04 WRX Wagon (getting the swap)
04 STi (giving the swap)

The WRX Wagon is getting the harness, ECU, EJ257, and all the STi power goodies from the STi.

My main concern, is when the OBDII gets plugged in, the VIN for the STi will pop up from the ECU, and I'll have legal problems.

Does anyone know the best way to go about this? Whether the VINs can be merged/referenced to make sure that they show up correctly, and everything is legal for the RMV and inspection, etc.

Thanks!!

Jake

EDIT: For reference, I live in Massachusetts, where they use OBDII, and no sniffer for inspection purposes.

I was under the impression that it was on the ECU, and they were able to pull that up. If that's not the case, then oh happy day!

+3... It's not on the ECU. That would be weird.

Great news, thanks guys! I just didn't want to go to get the car inspected and get the guy running the OBDII scanner wondering why the sedan had such a big rear end...Thanks!
