Default Kevlar high torque clutch that will play nice with tranny

I am in the process of having some clutches made (one is for my beast). They are estimated to hold over 400 ft.lb. with a sprung hub full faced Kevlar/Kevlar design. This is far superior to un-sprung or puck clutches for your high powered daily driver. What do you guys think? Anyone interested in one?
I put this in technical because I want to know what input anyone has on the design.

It is made by the same company that a lot of the other clutch companies pay to have their stuff done; ie., ACT, etc. I'll post a pic when I get them in in a few days.

Kevlar is what you absoletely do not want in a street clutch, or for drag racing..it is road racing only in my experience. Reason? The friction material does a wondeful job of absorbing tons of heat...after 25 minutes of hard playing in my RS witht he kevlar clutch Unorthodox did for me, I had to sit with water ont he tranny bellhousing just to get going again...it slipped in 1st gear without boost!

Stick with a good quality OEM based (asbestos) disk.....you and your tranny will be much happier. If you find it is not enough (an AP Group N for example holds upwards of 400 hp), then a cerametallic will work well if you treat it nicely.

Well thanks for the input Adam, but I am selling this for street guys who don't want something for drag, etc. It's for street guys who don't normally get involved in "25 minutes of hard play" all the time. That sounds like road or strip to me.
Yes, it will get hot if you pound on it long enough. That is not what it is intended for. It is a street clutch or you have to let it cool down if you're going to do that sort of thing.
BTW, clutches need to be rated in torque I'm sure you know and this one is over 400, so I'd expect it holds more than the AP clutch. It sells for $550 as well.

Just be sure to do lots of testing first before selling it to the public.

I had Shaun at Unorthodox do the kevlar clutch for me ages ago, long before ACT had one out for the GC8. I required it as my stock clutch could not hold the 10 psi I was running at the time on my Turbo RS. The clutch material is very odd looking...sort of like a tennis ball. We put it in, did the break in, and everything was ok. That is until it got hot. Even sitting in traffic for 20 minutes got the clutch so hot that it would simply slip constantly.....once cooled, it was back to normal.

Forget about the strip...I am sure a bunch of RS guys recall me hosing my bellhousing down between runs at E Twon when I was gunning to best Shane's time.....I didn't and only could must 2 runs that day, both of which stunk due to the clutch

As for the AP...it handles 400 lb/feet of torque......no idea why I quoted HP! Costs quite a bit more than $550 though, but worth every penny

Well this clutch is backed by SP Engineering, so I doubt we will have problems, but I will be testing one in my car shortly. Thanks for the input and cautions; I'll be sure to keep an eye on that so no one has issues.
