Default piratestatic29: my car, my story and the building process.

It starts with a flood while finishing up a class in Pensacola, FL. It rained and rained all day and night and the next morning I go out to see my Honda Prelude sitting in about 3 feet of water all around the car.

It won't start and I still have to find a way to make it to class so I can graduate on time. I push it out of the water thinking that if it drys out maybe it will start...I open the door to the car and the water inside my car is level with the water outside my car. It is a goner for sure. Still I hope for the best and find a dry spot on an incline so the water can drain out of the exhaust and let it sit for three days, start it up and confirm that she is dead.

During those three days I am also researching what car I want to buy and what I can afford and what fits the things I loved about my Prelude ("lude" for those in the know). I loved the sportyness and boxy edges of my lude. I loved how it looked like a fast car and yet had a classy and clean look unlike many of the Civics you see. It has a somewhat cult like following for those who like them, and the community is very close. I also wanted something a little more practical and newer (2000 5th gen BB6).

I looked at various Honda's (S2000, CR-Z), even considered getting a Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4(seriously a sexy truck). I knew however that I needed to keep things practical and get a car that would work well for being in a city since I was moving after I graduated class.

After graduation my family took me to test drive my first Subaru. It was an STI hatchback, it was the base model and it was black. Now at first I wasn't digging the color, and the base model hatch was a quick no for me. Still I test drove it and loved the way it drove. Not wanting to make an impulse buy I told the dealer thank you for letting me drive it and then left to get on a plane home.

Thought about it, and thought about it some more did some comparison shopping online, went to another dealer...was a jerk, went to another dealer loved them and made my purchase.

2013 WRX limited sedan in Plasma Blue Pearl. I have to say I really love this car. It really reminds me of my lude, in multiple ways too. The community, the style of the car, and the enjoyment that comes from driving a nice "cool" car.

here she is at day one:

So since this is a build thread...I have installed a COBB short throw shifter and changed out the interior lights with LED's and tinted the windows...because lets be honest the WRX has plenty of windows and on days when it is 90 degrees + and humidity is through the roof the last thing I want to sit on is scalding hot leather and then try and drive holding onto a steering wheel that is on fire.
COBB SS, knob and bushings (PITA to install)

I have group N mounts coming in soon and rainguards (it gets hot and I want to crack my windows...but it also rains on those days too) Pics will follow.

Very nice ride. What are you plans for it in the future?

I don't want to make her a track car. My end goal is to make her as nice as possible without going overboard.

Good choice! I loved the Cobb exhaust I had on my GR.

Yeah I was shooting for louder than stock but not annoyingly loud. I nice mid rumble, nothing close to an over tuned Mustang with glass packs or high pitched bumble bee like a Civic.

Next up will be a Perrin pitch mount and group N trans and motor mounts and Whitelines cross member brace bushings. I spoke with RSD.com and they were saying that between Kartboy, Perrin, and Beatrush that they all performed at the same level and it really just came down to how much I wanted to spend and which namebrand I liked more. Beatrush did have a better option for more money but I don't want my NVH to go through the roof

Then after that...maybe some Cusco sway bars...then again COBB has been really kick a$$ and given me some free stuff (up pipe and a screen protector kit for my AP). Eitherway I am getting the Kartboy endlinks and probably the Whiteline rear swaybar mount support kit.

Next "big" upgrade though will probably Fortune Auto coilovers but that will be more than likely next year.
