Default 2004 2.5rs to LS chevy swap

I had a 2003 bugeye 2.5rs I swapped the body parts over to the 2004 STI parts. So it looked great esp hellaflushed. I sold it like a dummy and picked up a 2004 2.5rs and decided to just let my 89 lx mustang be the project. I started with a LS1 series engine swap and I'm kinda bored with it since its basically just a race car. I really miss my hellaflushed subie but hated that it lacked power for the looks.

SO.. with that being said, I think I want to go back with the STI hood, splitters, v-limited lip and side skirts on my RS and I'm looking into swapping in my LS1 and converting to rear wheel drive only. Not building alot of power out of the LS. Right now its around 335hp and 355tq at the crank. I'm swapping to a lower profile LS intake that will put the numbers around 365hp and about the same in tq.

My main concerns are...

1. Will the stock rear end hold up?

2. Can I keep A/C using the subaru compressor and making a mount?

Are there any build threads with LS engines in imprezas on here I'm not seeing by searching?

The R160 will hate life. I'd suggest tossing an R200 in it.

As for the AC; if you can make a mount and work a tig (tubing) then yes, you can make a custom mount I'm sure.

There have been two that I can think of. one went into a legacy gt over in Dubai or something.

kool I'll look into that rearend.. I just dont want to have to fab up a solid axle like a ford 9" or 8.8 to handle it.. If I can do a oem rear that can hold up to 500hp it should be fine because I just might add a small turbo to it after getting it in but nothing crazy.. I want it daily worthy and quite as possible with looks to kill like my old subie.

My Brother is doing a ls swap to his miata and has done a ls corvette rear end conversion. Using custom axels this way you get your proper gearing and they can take lots of torque

I can see him wanting to beef up the miata rear end.. I think our sti rears should be good. and I've heard of a nissan rear end working which sucks cause I just hauled one off not long ago..
