What is the difference between the STI and STI Limited? I mainly notice the rims and moon roof, but is that it?

Also I plan to add a number of options so I will have to order. Do you think it will take longer to get the car because it is considered Limited? I haven't even seen a Limited on any dealerships floors.

Finally what do you think a good price would be for the base STI Limited? Obviously online is high at $37,445. I was wondering what you thought I could talk it down to.

Well the cool thing about where I got my car, I used to work at a different dealership but under the same corporate ownership and I would have been able to get it at invoice no matter what. BUT, I made an inquiry online and had one of their internet managers contact me and she got me a nice quote. I then went and got a different quote from an Internet manager at a competing dealership and had them do a couple of rounds of bettering each other, and the competing dealership gave a cheaper price and then I mentioned what I could get it from them to the preferred dealer person and she matched it. So for example I was able to get a base WRX for 23,745 +499 dealer handling. I know there could have been a couple hundred possibly to haggle with but didn't bother with it at that point.

What I learned from this, is no matter what dealership you go to, always go through the Internet to get a quote to get an Internet sales manager, as they ALWAYS work off of quantity versus a regular floor sales person who goes for max profit. THEN go to a competing dealership and do the same thing, see who's better, then go to the dealership that you prefer and have them match it.

Haha, as I was typing this tfming posted his comment. Funny.

My Silver WRX Limited Sedan with NAV has arrived at the dealership (ordered on December 10th). I've got a busy week next week so I'm picking it up on April 5th.

Looking forward to it, and will post pics once I get it!

On the Order Pipeline report, what is "scheduled" and "estimated arrival?" My pipeline is showing "scheduled 3/23/2012 (today), estimated arrival 4/2/2012."

Scheduled is when its should be released to railway or truck, eta is the day its estimated to reach your dealer.

people that didn't get in their order before 3/7-ish probably are on the next allocation/boat. the owner of my dealership was telling me that the way orders work, dealers basically get first "pick" off of what's already on the way on a boat (or about to be), then they install the options at port and send it to the dealer. however, since dealers only get to allocate once a month, if you miss the allocation day/week, you have to wait another 4 weeks for the dealer to actually have your car reserved. it can also take longer if you choose a trim that isn't already (almost) built or if you choose options that can't be port-installed (like satnav).
yes, all of this is from the dealer and probably not 100% true but it makes sense to me.

So in theory the closer you are to a port, perhaps the sooner you might get your car? Say in my case I'm in Seattle.

Ughh I hope you're wrong about that part... I ordered/ put a deposit on the 6th... The manager didn't sign off on it/ order wasn't put through til the 9th because the manager wanted $349 more than we originally agreed on...

Hopefully the 9th still makes it for the current allocation, I would be so pissed if I missed it by that much when I originally put my money down and ordered it on time...

Yeah well I got my VON on 3/5 and my ETA is still May. There are no solid facts about this ordering system only speculation. AND my order was a SWP with no nav... A very common combination.

The only way to truly find out your current status is calling SOA for yourself and hope you get lucky.

On another note, Day 1 of week 13. ETA is Monday. Welp even though I would rather have my car rt now, I get free stuff from SOA as a "good will" gesture for busting the 12 week mark.

If it is like in 2011, it is done for all models. They just can't afford to dip more cars in red paint after December. I honestly think less than 100 are made each model-year.

Default Pick up the 2012 that will do or wait and order?

So I test drove a 2012 WRX STI 4DR Arctic Silver yesterday.

WOW! coming from diving 500+/500+ ford cobra this STI is awesome.
I cannot believe the connectivity to the car you feel it is simply amazing. It is not nearly as quick as my cobra but man the ride is just awesome.

So this had:
6MT Short Throw
Mirror/compass
6MT duracon black sifter.

Impressions: I wish it had the BBS wheels and possibly the SPT exhaust.
And a moon roof.

Responses: Dealer said he would put a moon roof in with buttons etc..for 1K
and he would put an exhaust on for 1k including labor. Wheels I bet cost me 2K.

Sticker with dealer markup was 37,125. He is selling it to me for 34k. I love the internet managers...he just whipped out the dealer invoice and said "OK 500 over dealer invoice its yours".

So I love the car and we only have like 3 in the state right now in Oregon. I love the black STI in Vancouver, WA but it is quite far away.

8 week wait might suck...

Yes waiting sucks. It really does. If you aren't very picky about your options, I would suggest trying to find a car out of state that can simply be trucked to your dealership. It will cost you some, but trust me if they had the exact car I ordered somewhere across the country I would have got it shipped over in a heartbeat.
