Default installing lots of new parts

I just started the parts install on the 07 STi. Here's a pic of the parts laid out. Anyone have any advice on problems I might run into that you want to share? This is the first Subaru I've worked on. I installed the fuel pump today.

1. Its obvious you do your shopping for car parts at Kmart.
2. Its obvious you are going to run into huge problems as you are buying first, then asking for help, which is the opposite of what you are supposed to do.
3. Its obvious you will be motor shopping very soon as well.

The photo that you pro iced os rather uninformative. It doesn't show any of the brands. Plus unabomber is correct in that u should research before you buy. IMO its NEVER a good idea to throw on a ton of parts all at once. Unless pf course you plan on pulling the engine and doing a full build and going over the entire engine. Also your photo as well az your post don't even hint at engine management which makes me agree with unabomber again as in you will be engine shopping sooner than you may hope. Pace yourself when installing major performance parts and do some sort of engine management immediately. Hope this helps

Hope u don't take my comments as negative. Im all about you putting all those parts on ure car. Just giving some solid advice about engine management. All this parts on ure car with no EM is a recipe for disaster

3" maf housing
Perrin 3" inlet hose
SSAutochrome FMIC

I will be open source tuning all of this. Of course I researched before I bought everything but keep in mind it was all purchased at Kmart

One change and tune at a time is the way to do this...that's a whole lot of gear to throw on, trust, and try to tune for..take it from a guy that tried to do similar, and regretted it.

Well it's not that many parts though right? I need the fuel pump and injectors to support the turbo.. the filter/intake/maf are needed to support the additional airflow. It's not like I can put the turbo on and tune.. I need most of the other parts too

I'm not sure if it was previously done, but the TGVs will need to be removed for the 3" turbo inlet to fit.

If you plan to pull the intake manifold off be sure to have new OEM, or similar, gaskets to go back in place.

Boost test the entire FMIC system up to 20psi prior to tuning. You would be surprised at how easily a leak forms where a clamp appears to be tight.

Make sure the turbo gaskets are high quality multi ply units like factory or better:

Also, can you provide a close up of the oil feed line end on the turbo. I can't tell from the photo if it has banjo fittings on both ends or not. I believe the 2007 STi has the oil feed coming directly from the head with a banjo hose end versus prior years that use a metric (m12?) hose end. It has been a while so I can't recall for certain, but poking around under the hood prior to pulling off your current turbo will answer this.

No I have not done anything to the TGV, I was under the assumption that this was an internal mod so how would this effect what intake can be installed?

Turbo
I'd double check with the turbo supplier prior to install. In this photo you will see a 3" turbo (atp 3076) w/ 3" perrin turbo inlet hose. It was a major pain to fit in there and it would not have fit with the TGV sensor in place. I.E. the TGV sensor has been removed. This is on a 2006 STi, but on the 2007 there is no sensor, rather a bump where it was (plate and 2 screws). I'm not sure if that bump will impede fitment or not.

tgv deletes, being an 07 there is no difference in physical size the motors are on the front of the tgv housing on the passenger side, but fitment is very very tight, so add time to your list of things, and also. what clutch are you on? dont think your oem clutch with alot of miles will be holding this, especially if youre launching the car, oh and cutting the bumper, be very patient.. it will pay off in the end, t bolt calmps? i dont know to much about SSAC but.. if my aps kit didnt come with them, i dont think the half price option does, good investment. some low end parts if you ask me.. hopfully they all work out for you. remove the screen filter inside the banjo bolt for your turbo oil supply. im imagining that was all purchased on ebay? well hopefully you make some good results. i just went fp red on my 07.

oh and about the tgv's.. imho you already half assed on cheap parts.. but in anycase wait the 1 week turn around for your tgv's to be deleted thru grimmspeed or what ever option you choose. dont think ebay does the deletes.. anywho you will see some good gains by getting them done and it would be stupid to not do them now.

As a heads up, the 07 housings are not the same physical size. The flange w/ plate and 2 screws sticks out about 5/16"-1/2" further than the previous year housings with the sensor removed.

you will be fine on the tgv's. just get a spacer or thermal gasket for the lower tgv and it will fit.

you dont need to tune one part at a time. If you go to a tuner that is any good he will be able to tune you without doing it one part at a time. do your build ask for a limp map to get to the shop and get tuned.

just make sure you use all new gaskets. the ones from the factory are cheap and will do just fine.

good luck on the build, hope you get some good numbers.

It's got the stock clutch with 70k miles on it as far as I know. I guess I'll see how it holds up. Bumper is already cut and intercooler is mounted. The kit came with t bolt clamps so it's all good. Yes most parts were purchased on ebay but I have had very good results with ebay intercooler kits on other vehicles.

The banjo bolts for the stock coolant lines to the turbo are too small for this turbo. Does anyone know where I can get some bigger fittings?
