Default Difference between EJ257BG1LB & EJ257BW7CH

I'm trying to replace my 05 sti engine (EJ257BW7CH)
with an engine from an 08 sti (EJ257BG1LB )
(I have checked the part# of both engines, only the pistons had the exact same part# ...but i know that part#s don't give the full story. Are both engines interchangeable? If not is there a high degree of modification required to install the 08 engine into the 05?

If you're doing JUST the short block then its a direct swap and no other modifications are needed. The heads are different however so doing a long block is going to cost more money and effort.
