Default EJ20K injector damage?

I just got back my cleaned injectors, and found them very hard to install. I just broke off the little metal bit from the top of one of them. Is this very important, does it have a function? Please let me know ASAP. My engine comes back tomorrow morning, and I'm still trying to finish up the intake manifold.
Thanks a lot, Tom
I really hope this doesn't mean the injector's dead.........

I'm pretty sure The metal part is where the clamp hold the injector in place. It may not seat correctly with out it. I have a set of v6 sti injectors for sale if you end up needing another set.

Thanks dude. Maybe I should try soldering it back together! I have luck with that. It would still conduct (in case it is earthing the injector?) and I don't think there is much stress on it once it is in position, surrounded by a black plastic cushion. Just a thought, if I have nothing to lose.
