You're kidding right? I think everyone needs to reevaluate your expectations here. Subaru is never going to make a 350hp+ car, thats just not their market segment. And this car is so much lighter than the STI that 250hp is greater than or equal to 300hp in the STI...

Lets be realistic here. Just because you want a car that is 350hp, AWD, loaded with features, amazing body lines, etc. for $20000 doesn't mean a company can make it...

I truly hope a faster, better equipped model does arrive in a few years...not because that's what I'm wanting, but so the initial model may flood the used market

wow i just started coming back to this forums for the brz and almost every thread has posts saying it need to be 300+ hp and awd. if only subi made a car that fit that description you guys would be in heaven. have you hear of the wrx sti
one car is rally inspired the other drift. the what 105 hp drops when you factor in the drive train loss awd vs rear, and the weight of the cars about 900 lbs ( going off subies numbers ) 3400 vs 2500.
want more power in the car money buys power just like every car. with the say 10k difference in price ( just rumor numbers till it comes out) the wrx sti over 350 whp you need to build the engine or take your chances. i bet we will see similar power on fully built cars it will probably be something like 2.2 forged internals 9 or 10:1 compression.
its ok i know change and new stuff is scary but just think it will probably open alot more doors subi tuners and parts. with the the toyo and subi being the same and jdm version same as american that alot of money companies can make from engineering parts. im pretty sure i read the ecu was unlocked too. i just cant wait to see what comes out for it the first year.

Nobody reason. Nobody knows where is the end.

Until you understand that, this car will be a mystery wrapped in Nori.

If you want a lightweight, great handling, affordable RWD 2+2, you may want to look into this car.

The 2.0l turbo GC will be in the same market as this car, not the v6. This segment will consist of 2.0 GC's, v6 Camaros, V6 Mustangs, MX-5's and Mini's. I could go on, but I have a feeling it still won't matter.
Finally, someone with a sense of logic... This isn't meant to be a replacement for the sti or wrx, its something completely different.

200hp is perfectly fine, but I do want more torque
I'm really hoping the DI help with the reponsiveness of this engine
and a flat torque line.

If I would go for such a car, I would need to change my handle, so...if they start driving two more wheels...

I was thrilled to see Netflix finally got it. Too bad there is no option to watch it in original Japanese with subs.

The live-action movie based on season 1 is worth a look. Not perfect, but very impressive for what it is. Itsuki is especially well cast.

For a car that looks so sleek and fast its a shame this will be a bastard child of the RX-8. Not enough power! I was hoping to see Subaru go for gold with this BRZ instead of the bronze. Who gives a flying **** about fuel economy in a sports car? If you want economy get a hybrid. I'm still holding out hope that they will make a model that meets my expectations. Kinda like Mitsu did with the EVO FQ 400.

You were able to buy the FQ400 here stateside?

This car is smaller and lighter than the RX8. And the RX8 was one of those cars that was more than the sum of its parts. I had one. I loved that car.

So, you don't like the RX8 because it didn't have enough power? Ummm, OK. I'll bite. What qualifies as your benchmark for 'enough'? If it's all about straight line performance to you, then no, that's not what the RX8 was about either.

I could spin the rears all day long in that car. No other car under $50k could touch it's handling.

So please, qualify what you mean when the RX8 didn't have enough power. What was one specifically not able to do in the RX8 that cars around the same price point could? (Keeping in mind, no other car handles like the RX8 under $50k).

I was hoping for ( and this is just my WISHES ) that it had about 332 bhp, comparable to horsepower of the 370z, G37, and Genesis. Mix that with superb handling and that will be a great car to match the looks. I love the looks of the BRZ.

I'm sad to hear that you're so bad at driving that you need 300+hp to make up for it.

Go buy a Mustang.
