i hope this new "sportscar" is faster and has a better power/weight ratio Than a FOUR door saloon family car.

Every 1 horsepower of the BRZ would be pulling around 12.5lbs (Power to weight ratio of .08).

In theory, the BRZ should be faster than a stock 2002 WRX due to it having a higher power to weight ratio. This of course does not take the torque curve and power delivery into effect or any other variables.

I would also hope that ten years later, and with toyota money, their first dedicated sports car would be more than slightly faster than their first sporty car in the us market

No it's not false. Also, I wouldn't catagorize a stock 2002 wrx as a fast car. However, it can be made into a fast car and it has huge power potential (my 03 WRX's EJ205 is putting out 327whp on 91 pump which is around 400-410bhp), because it was designed from the factory to run a turbo, the BRZ on the other hand is power limited with the high compressoin n/a engine. As for the power to weight ratio on a stock 02 WRX and the BRZ (13.3lbs/hp), they are pretty close. So expect similar acceleration

So the weight ended up higher than expected, and the torque is nonexistent, but I'm still going to give it a test drive. I just wish it came with 16" wheels stock. Before anyone asks why, 16" Hoosiers are much cheaper than 17"

I'd like the concept bumper instead of this look if possible to get. (Not horrible though)

So you would only use it for autocross/track?

More or less. I'd be driving it around from time to time, but the main reason it caught my eye is I think it would do well in C Stock.

Pretty amazing what side skirts and a drop will do for the overall look.

And no trash catcher in the grill, and a huge chin spoiler.

This is the first time I realized the STI concept has shaved door handles... Don't know how I missed that before....

The regular BRZ looks ok, but it definitely needs the same ride height as the STI version, the "ground effects" aka front lip, side skirts, and rear diffuser. With just those changes it'll look way better/more agressive.

I'm still pretty excited about the car, if not for what the BRZ becomes, for what this means the WRX/STI will be the next go around.

I think Subaru "had" to have a light low powered version first. Since Toyota flipped the bill on the Money side they had to play "their way". But once this platform has been released Each company is allowed to revise the chassis in a way they seem fit.... MEANing there is a good chance a higher powered turbo version is in the works. The Initial direction needed to be "light and low"

Waiting patiently for actual numbers......

Should be a fun track car and looks like there is a lot of room of improvement. Can this be the next supra or rx-7 of our century? Time will tell. Honestly, the Genesis almost flopped with its hype, but people are still trying to make em go faster. Right now wish I had the bank roll to buy a few and see what they will do, but they are not available nor i have a bank roll of millionaire.

Should be interesting with all the things being said, to bad SOA has everyone by the nuts right now. Not fair.
