You've got my support on this one, Subaru.
^^Well said...
Why so many negative comments for this car... I am in the Subaru forums, right??
Many are saying why it doesn't have this this and that... why not see what it does have: lightweight, great handling, good mpg, etc...

Good Job Subaru/Toyota... me like

I agree BUT why not have 2 available engine choices like every other car they sell? They would potentially sell alot more. Subaru is Curently known for there Turbo Boxers.

If the car actually comes out under the same price and weight as what on that spec sheet we are looking for a dollar/pound car?
I like it!!

This car does have a boxer engine, and Subaru does sell quite a lot of cars with non-turbo boxer engines as well. Also remember that without a turbo, you have lower weight, less complexity, and lower cost. There have been rumors of a more powerful engine being offered, so there will probably be more details once the production model debuts. It's not uncommon marketing to offer the lower powered model first followed by the higher powered model a little later.

There was an article that quotes a Subaru official saying that they are purposely building the BRZ for expansion purposes later on down the road. This hurts because for the next 5 years, I'm going to be wondering when it will get AWD, a Turbo and that convertible/hardtop option.

The boxer engine in the BRZ is placed lower in the chassis and closer to the center of the chassis compared to the Impreza, so Subaru's current transaxle will not fit. That means it is not possible to fit AWD using their current design. I'm not sure if we would see AWD on this car later on, but honestly I don't see the need for it. This car is intended to be a lightweight RWD coupe to expand the Subaru lineup. Maybe we will see a similar AWD system like that of the Ferrari FF. A turbo however, is something I would expect to see later in a higher performance (possible STi) model. I haven't heard rumors of a roadster version, but that would be interesting.

/\ Got'it.

Let me find the article stating the whole convertible/roadster idea.

Here you go -

Quote:
A roadster version could yet play a part in future model plans, but a topless car is ‘under consideration’ rather than developmental reality.
6th paragraph. I'm taking it as a grain of salt -

That would be awesome. Looks like it would be alot of fun at 2,500 lbs and 200hp...

excited to see how the after market supports this. NA power can be something awesome, imagine what a 2.5 litre would do under this same managment/ fuel delivery could do... Could you imagine N/A 250 hp? Awesome!

It will never happen. It's not physically possible with the design of the vehicle.

The rear cylinders are directly behind the front the hubs.

Personally, I think it's sexy as hell and the stats are great.

IF it comes with a factory turbo down the line, that's just icing on the cake.
