There "may" be something posted on or after Mar. 23rd related to a post that doesn't exist.

Agreed x2, more power would make it very interesting. Turbo for 2014 is my vote, then I would want to get one..

Default BRZ platform

I read that the BRZ platform is "stretchable" in motortrend...I wonder if the next generation WRX/STI will be built on this platform (instead of sharing the impreza platform)??

That's what current talk seems to be saying. Seems like there may even be a possibility that they move the WRX/STI towards European-styled small cars.

It has to in order to re-enter WRC. It needs to be a 1.6L (probably 2.0L in NA) and they want a more nimble platform (small wheelbase=2 door)

Exciting times. I can't wait to hear more news and see some of the first spy shots of the mule.

While past brand history would indicate an STI version would use a turbo, that’s not the case here, with Atake saying that basic modifications to the intake and exhaust, as well as a higher rev limit could up power. In fact, Atake swore off a BRZ Turbo commenting that, “we want to keep turbocharging separate. It is for models like the WRX STI.”

kind of odd as obviously the aftermarket will do some intake/exhaust tuning. i remember them saying the engine was capable of high rev/more power just with stouter valve springs but i hope a lot more value comes along in the sti model

hooray vert BRZ WGAF model

It's quite entertaining to see a lot of you guys complaining about 200hp as being insufficient, especially with no one here having driven the car.

I daily drive a '11 Honda Civic Si sedan, with 197 hp, and, if I recall, a 2,9xx lb curb weight. The car is quite quick as is and doesn't need more horespower to be fun out of the box.

Yes, my Si isn't a rocket, but it's quick enough for street use. A lot of people here are only concerned with power figures; balance is really what this car is all about.

If you think about it an '07 STi weighs close to 3,300 lbs, correct me if I'm wrong, with 300hp.

The BRZ is roughly 5-600 lbs lighter than my '07 STi and is rear-wheel drive. Please note that I'm not inferring that the cars will have similar acceleration times, but I do believe it'll still feel quicker than what we're lead to believe by the power figures alone.

Feeling quicker and being quicker are 2 very different things! The feeling of being quick will be crushed by reality when you get passed by a Camry!

SWP, you might be satisfied with the Si on the street, but a stock Si is considered quite slow by many people. I'm remembering how quick my stock S2000 was, which had 40bhp more and only weighed 30lbs more than a BRZ; I wouldn't really want anything slower than that.

Yes, feeling quick and being quick are two different things.

Quick Question: When would anyone, here, find themselves racing a Camry? Oh wait... this is Nasioc.

Jokes aside, I still believe this car will be relatively quick despite only having 200 horsepower, with a sub 3,000lb curb weight.

Slow by who's standards, mass street racers?

Again, why is everyone so obssessed with power? If the idea of getting passed by a Camry frightens you, pardon me while I , then clearly people should be looking elsewhere.

Maybe BRZ owners could take the "Camry" in to the "twisties" and show it who's boss...

Again, speed isn't everything. You can have a lot of fun with a quick car and always make it "quicker," if needed.

Edit: I'm not looking for a debate on whether or not the Honda Civic Si is considered a quick car by xyz magazine, it was simply an example.

Because to have fun on the street in a car with not much power, you have to drive like you stole it. Whereas a car with more power, you can just do a quick pull on an on-ramp to get some joy out of it. The BRZ will definitely be fun on an autocross, but it will be bland on the street where I do 100% of my driving, unless I'm driving recklessly.

AWD launch > RWD launch = better initial acceleration.

It's already been admitted by Subaru that the car isn't quick, but they put ****ty tires in it so it breaks free easily, to give the illusion of being quick. Cars that break loose easily aren't usually viewed as good handling! Lol. It's been clocked as having a set 6.4 0-60 time. That's far from quick! Hell my wife's 328xi puts down better times, and her Charger R/T, the bloated pig that it was, was over a second quicker.

To use your logic, why would a Camry follow you into the twisties? Fool. And there we go with the same boring, and tired rebuttal of "This isn't the car for you" When all else fails fall back on that. It holds no water anymore. The car is slow, deal with it. Even Subaru refuses to deny it.
