Default BRZ Transmission??

Has anyone heard about the transmission options for the BRZ?? I've had my fingers crossed that Subaru would possibly put a DCT gearbox in it (atleast as an option)... Anyone know??

The assumption is that both the Toyo and Subaru versions will use the same transmissions.

"The engine drives the rear wheels through a choice of two Aisin six-speed transmissions, one a manual, the other a conventional planetary automatic with manual actuation via steering wheel-mounted paddles. The transmission is the same one used in the Lexus IS 350, among others."

Definately not gonna get a DTC. Paddle shifters in the automatic yes, but not DTC.

Damn it!! I HATE Torque Converters!!! Common Toyota / Subaru!!! Mitsubishi bought a Getrag unit for the EVO, can't the world's LARGEST auto manufacturer develop one so that we don't have to deal with Power / Mileage / FUN sapping torque converters anymore?!

Too heavy and expensive. If you really hate torque convertors get a manual. Really to get this car with any kind of automatic is missing the point of this car.

I think that the weight of a DCT would really compromise this car. If it is ever released with fi I would be happy to see one though.

On the other hand I hope that the mt is as durable/stout as the sti's. I can see myself adding some serious power to this thing in a couple of years

They made the tranny in the S2000... which is one of the best 6MT transmissions out there. Even the press loved it.

The 6MT in the RX8 also.

Looking through the IS 350 motor/trans combos, none of the 300+ hp motors are paired with the 6-speed manual. Hrm.

Regarding the BRZ/FR-S/FT86 : my guess would be that to save weight, they are not using a super-heavy duty trans, but one targeted to 200-250hp. That is what I would do if I were Subyota Inc. It'll have great snick-snick action or we will mock them and Kartboy will make a bundle selling urethane bushings.

this video shows the tranny in the Lexus IS350 which should be the same in the BRZ/FR-S.
If it's not DSG I would never buy an Auto
