Default new to accessport help please

ok i have played with utec for years, and well i went to play with the ap, whole different world. so i get a few questions.

1. after you set up the ap with the car do you have to connect the green connectors ever time you change a map, or when the ap is connecter to car?

2. how do you transfer a map for ap to laptop so you can change the map yourself (self-tune)?

3. when you connect the laptop ap and car all together to datalog all you have to do is hit datalog on ap or is there a "start datalog" button on laptop?

any other info would be helpful thanks

Hi there.

1. You'll need to do the same procedure with the green connectors (i.e. test mode) each time you reflash a map. However, the AP has real-time maps that do not require you to be in test mode. You can flash these real-time maps at any time and the green connectors do not have to be connected. The difference is that the real-time maps contain only 10 table changes. They are 10 of the most tuned tables for boost, fuel, timing, etc. So, you would use them to temporarily make a change such as an economy map, anti-theft, valet, etc. The real-time map will be reset to the reflashed map values when you disconnect the car's battery, reflash another map, or reset the ECU (via AP). You would reflash a map (i.e. with green connectors) when you are making major changes (such as going from a stage 1 to stage 2 map). Note: not sure what vehicle this is for, but later model Subarus (generally 07+ or 08+) do not require the green connectors to reflash.

2. You would use the AccessPORT Manager software and connect your AP v2 to your computer with the software running. It will list all the maps you have on the device and then you can drag and drop map files from your computer to the device. If you are self tuning and have an AP v2, you will be able to request a free copy of the AccessTUNER Race (ATR) software. With this, you can create new maps (and even open and modify our OTS maps). You can also real-time tune the ECU (the 10 or so tables I talked about in #1) by running ATR and connecting the car.

3. Check out our data logging video for the AP v2 below.

Bill
