Default 2004 STI A/C Compressor Failed

Had a whining going on in my engine. Checked it out visually, nothing obvious. Set an appointment few days later, whining got worse before that. Took another look, belt to AC comp was all jacked.

Took it apart, lower wheel was fubar, belt mangled. Cut it out, then went to check out the ac compressor wheel.

It is frozen up and very difficult to rotate. I'm not positive but thinking that it should be free spinning. Called a guy and he said I need to replace the entire compressor setup.

Anyone have any experience to the contrary? Maybe just parts of the setup need to be replaced?

Any insight or experience appreciated.
