Smile 2007 Impreza Gas Pedal problem

ok... So I went yesterday to my Subaru Dealer to get the recalls done on my 2007 Impreza and I told the gentleman at the counter my gas pedal story. He said it would be a good thing to let other Impreza owners know about the problem and how it was fixed.

I could rant and vent ( it did go on for months!..) but I'll make it short.
The gas pedal was electronic. The module inside the assembly must have become defective because all the gas was in the first half of the pedal course. I had to keep my foot presure to a minimum less I give too much gas. Long drives became painfull. I also tested it fully on the highway: pushing the pedal all the way to the firewall did no more than when it was halfway. At 50% of its course it opened the throttle 100%. The rest of the course did nothing more.

The FIX: I got a new 2007 Impreza gas pedal assembly from a recycler, installed it myself:
disconnected the battery
took out the defective pedal: two 12mm bolts and one connection
Installed new one: one connection and two 12mm bolts
reconnected battery
turned key to accesory and gave the onboard computer 30 secs to reboot
and TAHHH-DAHHH!!: problem solved! The first 50% purrrs like a kitten and the next 50% roars like a lion. Driving a Subaru has become a pleasure again...

If this helps someone with the same problem, then I am glad I contributed.
If you want to know more, post here.

Good luck!

I just today had this same exact issue with my car So all you did was change the gas pedal assembly?
