docNUCCA, I'd check your afr's, you'd notice some jerking at a constant speed. Your car will eventually throw a code for running rich on bank 1, or at least mine did. Not sure when they will refill that tank, but it makes me question it when there's probably a decent amount of unleaded fuel in it, unless its ran completely empty prior to filling it.

E85 is clear but it smells like a burp after tequila night while standing at a gas station. SG should tell you what it is. Document it well, because Weights and Measures will be going after them, and since you contacted them they'll probably ask for a report/ statement with evidence.

Yeah, I'm pretty aware of the smell and appearance of e85. Just a bit difficult to analyze when you're pumping it into the car with faith that it is what it's supposed to be.

My car ran like crap today on the half tank of E85 from Orem yesterday. Can't wait to hear the test results on Monday of what they were really selling yesterday.......

wish I could post the pic of the sample test I did at the house, its pretty apparent that its unleaded petro. I'll let you guys know where we stand after I get the test results and hopefully hear back from the BBB and standards and measurements. Pretty sure Christensen could care less until that tank is empty.

^ this is a legitimate concern. If that is the case I am prepared to find a different option, weather it be water/meth injection or buying e in bulk and storing it.

This is ridiculous!

I decided to convert my Evo to use E85 over the weekend and spent over $150 on mislabeled E85. I first discovered the issue after filling up from the Orem station (see my thread on UtahPACE here: http://www.utahpace.com/forums/showt...hristensen-Oil) and then went and burned that entire tank of gas on a long drive ending in Clearfield where I filled up at JP's Chevron. I knew I should have stopped when I didn't smell any ethanol on the fuel, but I filled my tank up along with 2 5 gallon cans anyway...

I'm livid. Apparently the EPA are the ones who mandate at LEAST 70% ethanol content and I have heard mention of somebody considering getting them involved in another out-of-state bad E85 incident. I would assume selling gasoline specifically as E85 would carry a pretty hefty fine. The only thing keeping me from wanting to tear Christensen Oil a new one is the fact that they put 91 octane in the E85 tanks instead of 85 or 87 or whatever "regular" is here. Regardless, I hope I haven't experienced any engine damage as a fairly aggressive tune went on along with the first fill up of E85.

If you are serious about making a legal fuss over this incident, I would go straight to the EPA. But definitely don't mention you don't drive an actual FlexFuel vehicle since that is technically illegal

I right there with you. But you guys all need to call Christensen, let them know that you're aware of the issue. One person voicing their opinion can easily be brushed under the rug, yet if all three of you guys call to verify the fact, then maybe they'll realize. I haven't heard back from Holly Refinery. When I do, I can post the documentation and drive it over to Christensen if that's what it takes.

Yes. I think I will take a few minutes this morning to give them a ring. I think your test will come back showing it's 91 MON+RON/2 octane gasoline, 10% ethanol. Actually, I have noticed a bit more detonation resistance so it might be more like 15% ethanol due to mixing with the existing contents of their underground tank.

I just filled up in Clearfield on Saturday. When did you notify them of this? I'm most disappointed with the fact that these pumps weren't turned off and marked as "Out of Order" once Christensen realized there was an issue late last week.

This is truly a case of ***** luck for me. I wasted at least 15 hours over this weekend tuning and going over my fuel system with a fine-toothed comb and tearing stuff up. I thought extremely high fuel system pressure was the reason I was seeing so little difference in IDC between this "E85" and 91 octane pump piss.

E85 will never be consistent, the flex fuel cars have a sensor in the tank that monitors the ethanol content and adjusts the ecu's timing accordingly. I trust my water/meth system over e85, cause what happens when they stop manufacturing e85 or lessen the amount of ethanol and still market it as e85.

The variance of E70-E85 is not a huge issue if the car is tuned for E85. This kind of "inconsistency" is a blatant botchery and is actually illegal as all fuel labeled as E85 in the US, per the EPA, MUST be at least 70% ethanol content by volume.

Crappy luck for all of us man. I just got back from a new fuel system install and a fine tune on a new rallispec block. I get back, that same week, a fuel injector wire unclips and I'm running on 3 cylinders. Get that fixed, and the following week, I get shafted for 46 gallons of pump. I was completely and utterly pissed Thursday night, which is why I spent the day Friday running around getting this stuff taken care of. I just called again at Christensen and was told that a supervisor was on the other line and that he would call back. So wack, I just hope that this never happens again, and that they were completely unaware of this until now.
