Default JDM g8 ej20 shortblock

I Don't have much time so I hope I don't get ragged on for posting this. My bottom end seized and no real money to speak of.

Anyone know if the bottom end from a jdm gc8 wrx ej20t will fit onto my stock us 2004 wrx?

I'm so broke I can only spend 1500$ on getting this back on the road, any ideas?

It should fit since it is still an EJ20 like yours but you will need the EJ20G head gasket and you will probably have to spend more money on a tune as I believe most JDM motors run a 9:1 compression instead of the US versions 8:1.

$1,500 does not sound that broke to me. I got my EJ20G back on the road for less than $700 and that included a used JDM WRX shortblock, new oil pump and all the necessary gaskets. All work done myself so that helped a lot. About 3 days of work and it was up and running again and been going strong for 7K miles now.

Would it be a better or worse idea to swap the whole engine?

You mean put the whole EJ20G in your 04? Way worse, that requires all new wiring harness and ECU from EJ20G.
