Default So I bought me a rally chassis

It's a genuine Prodrive bodyshell, LHD, seam welded, full cage.

Everything from the GL project ( http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1040445 ) will be put into this chassis so i will have little free time left this year .

Not sure when i will begin but it wil be ASAP, can't wait hehehe.

First thing to tackle is going to be the dashboard area as i suspect this will be the most work by far.

Oh and i will most likely do a widebody conversion on it, i need to see how this will turn uot financialy, i.o.w. if i can afford it .

I will update here whenever possible!

Wow, awesome! It's very yellow at the moment. Subscribe to this one! BTW, your other build-up is amazing! Looks like it was just a dry run though for this project.

Any plans to rally it?

I looked through your old thread what was the deal with the forester? It looked pretty clean?

Good luck with the new chassis.

WOW!!

After looking at the built engine from your other car, the new car is gonna rock.

I vote for painting it Gunmetal grey or WRB like the R1.

sounds like just a test model or something?

Thanks for all the kind words!

This chassis was a lucky find, i have some connections with people from the rallyworld in Europe/Holland and one of them bought this chassis for building it into a rallycar. He was going to rent it and rally a few races himself.
Then he got an oppertunity to buy a real WRC-car so he needed to sell this one.
I had no money at the time but i had an Impreza for sale, a green MY99 Impreza Turbo, so we agreed he would keep it for me untill i sold my car, and he did

Thanks! As Xcasinonightzone said just above the Forester was a factory testcar, i think quality control.
They scrap those cars but my friend can buy the parts of some cars he wants before the chassis gets scrapped.
It's a pitty for the Forester but for a factory such a car means nothing, and i am really pleased with it .

Thanks again .
My choice of color tends to grey also lately, but then semi-flat non metallic.
Like the Lambo LP640 from the press pics.

Interior is going to be another color, light and fresh, maybe Gulf Racing bleu or Porsche apple green, I'm not sure yet.

It's actually a real Prodrive chassis, I have seen more rallycars with this color so i think this is the original color prodrive uses.

I'm not sure when i will start and progress will be slow but i'll keep you guys posted

You sure? I don't see any front shock tower plating and the cage doesn't tie in through the firewall. Maybe Prodrive didn't do this with the older chassis. You planning on rectifying this?

I'm pretty sure, I know someobne who works or worked at Prodrive, he looked at the chassis and confirmed it was a real Prodrive unit.
It also has a tag on the cage which says S2 PRO 97, S2 prolly means the 2nd chassis to be built ni 1997.

And here a shot where you can see the cage actually does go through the firewall.

very cool, but I'm surprised that Prodrive didn't beef up the front shock towers like you see normally see.

Yeah, maybe it something they introduced after 1997?

I suspended my other car today and tommorow i'm of for a week in the Tjech republik.
No hostel for me though .

When i'm back, first thing i'll do is get another car so i'm mobile agian.
Then the fun starts!!
I'm pretty convinced i now know how they widen the track of real rally cars and luckily there seems to be no need to change my suspension.
So a wide body conversion is getting real close now

greets
