Question how to tell if dohc or sohc?

How can you tell if a car is DOHC or SOHC or what? Someone asked me if mine was and I had no idea, i'm a noobie to some of this stuff. What do they stand for? And how can you tell?

DOHC = dual overhead cams

SOHC = single overhead cam
