Default quick Q about accessports

okay, so i own a 2011 wrx and want to go stage 1 with intake.. however my car is still under warranty. if i flash the cobb maps onto my ECU then say my turbo goes out or something that regards a warranty.. if i flash it back to stock can the dealership tell if i flashed stage 1 onto the ECU?

Just do it. It is sweet. Please just maintain your car. Treat it nice and it will treat you nice.

You have to pay to play. So remember while it is not likely that a stage 1 tune will do any harm, if it happens the dealer could try to screw you. Be prepared to pay if something happens. I think the risk is low. One thing you could do is suspension and handling mods first. Then do power as you get closer to the end of your warranty. This is what i did.

Yes, they can tell. With that said, Stage 1 is safer than stock, however you run the risk of being denied a warranty claim on the engine.

Why wait till the end of the warranty? You still have a slight chance of getting warrantied. By the end of the warranty you will have a lot more miles and more chance of things going wrong. That being said, my ecu went "bad" while I was under warranty and Subaru blamed it on the car being tuned. It cost 895 to be replaced.

Even if they couldn't, would you really feel good about defrauding them?

However, you won't find one person anywhere that can confirm that their dealer showed them proof that they could tell that something was altered on their ecu. If anyone has proof other than "i was told" or "someone heard" or "i work at a dealership and I promise we can tell", please show hard evidence. Chances are, they can't tell that its been altered, just how long its been since the ecu was reset.

I wouldn't, because of the fact that most dealers would just as well steal from you as look at you. Whether its during the sale or during service. They always try to take advantage of you in some way.

On my car the Perrin map made 21 more HP than Cobbs stage 2 map.
I had my car dyno tuned (see the added bung?) and they got more torque but a few less HP than the Perrin map. The dyno tune was a complete waste of money and I use the Perrin map because it feels much better to drive.
I would avoid making statements like this. It's sounding like you're trying to tell him that Perrin's OTS maps are better than a custom tune.

I wouldn't have a problem. When the dealer tells you something needs to be changed when it doesn't, or they tell you price "X" is the lowest when they can really go lower, or they don't do the service that you paid for them to perform, they're scamming you without a second thought.

I personally could care less about the dealership people, they screw people over daily. I plan on getting a custom tune once I get it. I was just trying to see if they can tell or not. I've heard that they can see how many times the ECU has been altered but not exactly what you do. So yes I would feel GREAT.
