Default In the middle of the fuel tank swap, need help (pics)

I thought I did my homework, but I guess I was wrong

I am swapping JDM STI fuel tank intead of the old stock 99RS one

emissions aside, there is one difference I am concerned about - the new tank is missing a hose that I believe is meant for air to escape, RS has an extra one - I hope someone can shine some light over this

ok, here are both tanks, RS main air vent goes from the middle of the tank from the white valve, the new STI tank doesn't have that white valve and has the main air vent next to the filler neck (circled both)

closer up - STI tank

RS tank

this hose the goes over here

and into here

this lead me to believe that RS tank has two air vents, and the STI has just one which is located not as high

am I getting everything right? Can I just disregard this hose on the new tank?

Did you get this figured out? I replaced RS tank with WRX one a while ago. Its a little fuzzy now, but I remember that I had to take some censor from RS tank along with some lines and transfer it onto the WRX tank because they were slightly different.

Also this diagram along with the factory service manual diagrams were a big help in putting it all back together.

Let me know if you are still stuck, maybe I can dig into memory a little harder.

something is definitely wrong

somehow everytime I put fuel in, fuel gets into the main vent tank line which goes into the charcoal canister - the cut line which has a 90* bend next to the tank fill line

or is it NOT the vent line afterall?
