Both of your choices are good reliable guns. Best bet is to go to a dealer that has both and see which one feels better. If you can rent them that is even better see which one you like shooting better.

I have an XD 4" 9mm and really like it, it would be a little large to cc most of the time, in my opinion. I cross shopped it with a Glock 19 gen 4 (they were within $5) and for me the Springfield felt a little better. The Springfield had a nicer case, came with a holster, 1 more magazine, and a mag holder. When you added in the mail in magazines/mag holster it was a no brainer for me since it felt better in my hand.

FYI the mail-in magazines was by far the best mail-in rebate I ever processed. You could scan the receipt, fill out a form on their website, and not mail anything. They processed it next day and in a week I had the magazines. It was fantastic service.
Good review. I am going to Cabelas on black Friday for some ammo ($10.99 for 50 rounds of Winchester 9mm). I have a Ruger SR9c that just isnít what I am expecting. I shot a friendís XD and XDm and they felt much more solid and robust.

I am very interested in getting an XD if the price is right. Iíll be checking Buds and Slickguns for prices before going. And, with the overtime Iíve worked this week, I may have to pick one up.

Anyone have a Hogue grip for the XD series? Howís it feel? I love Hogue in general.

I personally don't like the balance (to front heavy) and trigger (when dry firing, never shot one) of the XDM's, couple that with the slightly higher than a Glock 19 price around here and the fact that I know I shoot very well with a Glock and I know which corner I lean towards. I will say though, the Glocks are ugly as hell, lol.

Looking to buy either a Glock 19 or a Walther PPQ this weekend, if no one has a better suggestion.

Went deer hunting for the first time on monday. Tracked a couple of deer up the hill on my friends property finally caught up to them and I took aim on the larger of the two which both looked like doe to me and had a failure to fire. The larger deer walked out of sight so I took aim at the smaller one that just turned to walk away and I take a shot and it drops and rolls 20 yards down the hill side.

My friend came up after I took the shot and we walked up to the deer and he is checking it out and asks where I shot it because he cant find a entry or exit hole. I said I shot him in the butt.

Shot in the butt as in bullseye in the anus. The shot exploded the pelvus took out a lung and exited the rib cage just behind the sholder blade. Turns out it was a small buck, no spots or antlers.

On a surprise note my father was kind of hinting about getting a .22 rifle for target shooting like he had as a teenager. So now the hunt is on for a .22lr with a bull barrel for a xmass present for him.

I really like the Savage Mark II series for bolt action rimfire target rifles. The accutrigger is pretty sweet, and the thumbhole stocks fit like a glove.

Too front heavy, try loading a mag full and it will feel completely different. I shoot my S&W 22a .22 handgun then transition to my xd9 and the weight difference between the two makes my xd9 feel extremely light.

Im running the pachmayr on my XD. My only issue with my xd was slippery grip if you have clamy hands. Either would do just fine, the pach is softer and a bit more tacky, the hogue feels more solid. I also have a talon stick on sand paper grip im going to try to see if i like it more then my pach.

A scope or an optic? Try primary arms they don't have much of a sale but their scopes are great and a good price.

I have the CZ 453. Love the thing and it is a great little shooter. It has the set trigger, which is why I bought it. Obvioulsy, you don't have to use the set trigger and can just use it with the standard pull but I like the set trigger alot better.

I've always considered optics to be red dots or acogs and scopes were scopes. But that's just me, i guess.

Damn...I was holding off because I was saying, "Do I really want ANOTHER caliber?" but I guess that decided it for me.

I have a 455 and the trigger is the best I've used on a firearm. It's not set or anything.

Im holding out hope that they find a stash of M44s to continue the deal, but that hope is fading. Such a shame, that was actually a pretty damn decent deal for both of them.

Don't get me wrong. The standard trigger is still pretty decent but I think there is a sacrifice for the set trigger function.

However, now that I think about it, I never adjusted the standard trigger since I use the set trigger so much. I'll have to see about doing that now.

I'm definitely not going to adjust the set trigger though. That things is already very light. I don't want to mess with it and have bump fires.
