Default I've got a lot of goodies to install,...

Hey all, I just had a BUTTLOAD of new parts delivered and I need some help, and/or a shop recommendation for installation.

Anybody interested in helping me?... Justin?, Steve?, Doug?, Travis, anybody?....

For those of you willing to help,.. Pizza and beer is on me.

Items to install:
BPM GT turbo back exhaust
ATR up pipe
Auto-meter boost gauge and SPO dash pod
Turbo XS Unichip pre-mapped to stage 2 (includes ABC and harness - I also recevied a TXS HPBC, but I don't know if I'll need this along with the TXS unichip w/ ABC)

Cucso - front strut tower bar - (I can install this in about 5 min)
Cusco - rear strut tower bar - (I can install this in about 5 min)
Cusco - V-brace - (on back-order, but shouldn't be a problem to install)
Momo race carbon shift knob

I also need info on the grounding mod and where to get the type of wires that Justin used for his mod.

I'll also most likely be hacking the stock airbox restorator and fabbing a CAI.

If you guys want to set up a shop day or get together at my place for the installs let me know.

-AW (many other parts on my wish list,... but my allowance ran out.)

Sounds like me next weekend:

Stoptech Rotors
Axxis Deluxe+ Pads
Flush & replace brake fluid
Cusco Camber Plates
TurboXS Up-pipe

Probably 2-3 things I'm forgetting right now...

orion, you might want to think about getting ss brake lines if you don't already have them, since your draining the brake fluid anyway

Yessirreee! Jack and Dustin both put them on recently too, but with different fluid than mine. I used Motul RBF600. They used STE Super Blue.

Allen, I'm willing to help out if it's at your place. The exhaust shouldn't be too hard, but I heard the uppipe is a complete biatch.

Shift knobs and boost gauages are my specialty

I'm fairly free this weekend.

Allen-
I'd be more than happy to help but I am going out of town this weekend and will be gone until next Friday. If you can hold out until then I'll be free.

I used 8 gauge wire and ring terminals for the SPG mod. You can get it at M@stro's shop on N. Lamar or try and find wire/terminals at a hardware store. I was able to find 8 gauge stranded wire at Home Depot but they didnt have ring terminals to fit.

Allen,

Happy to come along and help - I wanna see what's involved in the uppipe nightmare before I decide on what to do

Should be free most(ish) of Saturday from around 12 - email me at digitaltekniq@hotmail.com - or call my cell 917 7130.

With the shift knob - did you pick up one of the threaded inserts? It makes the job a hell of a lot easier/secure - here's the thread: Insert thread . I got this on my Kartboy SS and MOMO Race Air Leather - very nice

Cheers!

I'm going to check with a local shop in Round Rock, and see what they'd charge to install the exhaust and up pipe,...

The boost gauge, and Unichip can wait until next weekend.

I'll keep you guys posted.

it's the BMP GT Turbo back. The down pipe has the twin dump set up. - http://www.bpmsports.com/products/exhausts/downpipe.htm

The up pipe looks like it would be a HUGE pain in the ass to install.

The exhaust looks sooooo sweet. The only thing I don't like about it is the thickness of the metal used to fab the exhaust. Seems very thin compared to my Apexi Dunk that I had on my old 240sx.

If you guys want to help me tackle the exhaust install this weekend, just let me know. Otherwise we can plan a full days event for next weekend.

Why do you say that andres? (I know the BPM isn't, but I'm just curious since I'm thinking about a big mouth dp like the TXS or the ScoobySport)

Allen, let me know when you're planning these installs..

one thing though, you know installing a turbo back will put you out of STX... and into SM

Hey guys,... the wife had already made plans for today (Saturday), so I'll have to push the installs back to another weekend. I'll keep you all posted.

Maybe we can plan it for next Saturday? Let me know what you think?

As for running STX vs. SM,.... there was a lot of debate on the installation of a turbo back exhaust. The last time I checked the STX rules it stated: "as long as one cat remains within 6 inches of it's original location, then the exhaust is legal for STX". I'm not upgrading the turbo or intercooler, so I think I'll be okay.

Mar 2001 info from orionf:
"In the Motorsports Forum someone posted info from Howard Duncan, THE guy when it comes to SCCA Solo II rules, and he stated that turbo-backs are legal as long as the primary cat is within 6" of the existing primary cat. This means 2 things: 1. Up-pipes are legal and 2. Turbo-backs are legal. You can eliminate both the DP and UP cats according to what Howard's response said. There was a lot of speculation going on until Howard cleared it up. Search in Motorsports, you're bound to find it."

Let me know if the rules for STX have changed.

Suspension is next on my list,...

You can replace all pre-cats and cats with one high flow cat and stay in STX. You can do all that, but you can't install Samco IC hoses. That's crap.

Suspension should be first IMO

Well i think the UniChip will definitely put you out of class... all the same, I for one, won't run against you with all those mods on your car

I didnt realize your turbo-back had a high flow cat in it..

also, here is the wallpaper i've been using lately. i got it on www.subaru.com.au

Default piggy back ECU

As long as you don't replace the stock ECU. I think the piggy back ECU is still legal for STX.

Can anyone confirm this?

BTW, I'm still researching suspension options,... that's why I haven't purchased any suspension parts yet.

I think by changing the timing, you're shot outta STX Plus, you're messing with boost (slap hand ).

ESP or SM for you! Now it's Doug, ITR, and me in STX... well, unless you wanna kick me out because of my Samco IC hoses... hahaha

The chip is legal for STX as long as you DO NOT alter boost. The current TurboXS chip is definitely not legal. I'm not certain of how Cobb and Vishnu tune their's for boost. If the Vishnu chip only uses the MBC for boost control, then the chip alone should be legal. You may want to verify that though.

Steven - at an SCCA Div. or Nat. event you most likely would be protested in STX for the Samco hoses. Especially the Y pipe. They are considered part of the intercooler and therefore are not allowed to be changed in any way.
