Default Dealer says: "Main wiring harness"

Hey!
Just took my 07 STi to the dealer for the "red airbag" light being on. They said I need a whole new Main Wiring Harness. I'm looking to get one here, but the installation is gonna be tricky, as I have never done it before.

Anyone ever installed one of these things from the VA/DC/MD area? I'd be willing to pay the labor. OR if there's a good write up someone can point me to?

Thanks!

based off your comments in this thread, OP, this is over your head.

though i am not exactly sure why you would need a new wiring harness for an airbag problem. if you have issues with airbag wires, what does that have to do with engine/hvac... wires?

there is a thread on here that will help you diagnose the airbag problem. that could help you find your problem and fix it, not just "replace everything."

IDK how it is with Subaru but on Hondas (where i work at the dealer), We do any and all srs, airbag, and seatbelt diag and repairs ABSOLUTELY FREE. Honda just offers a unlimited warranty on those particular items, hell i assumed all manufacters did this....guess not. Anyways....one more reason you should be in a Honda....FREE SRS and Airbag parts for life lol Just kidding about being in a honda.....You dont want a new honda ....just trust me on this one...unless you dont mind sitting in the waiting area day after day why we perform recall after recall free of charge lol

wow! So in order for that to be replaced...wires literally had to have been chewed up or split, etc. right?
