Default Austin -F1 Personal seat license?

Has anyone heard of the USF1 or Circuit of the Americas (COTA) selling "Personal Seat Licenses" for the F1 race and V8 Super car race? Sounds fishy as I thought only F1 could sell tickets to the F1 race? COTA says they can.

Thoughts?

The race promoter sells the tickets, not FOM.

Haven't heard of this seat license, but I have heard/seen the "reserve your grandstand seats early" campaign.

I heard about the seat license and I couldn't tell if that was the same or different then the "reserve your seats early" thing they are doing.

The track sells the tickets, not FOM or the FIA.

I haven't seen word on pricing, and rumors are all over the place. I'm nervous we're heading towards a new yankees stadium deal with tickets being ridiculous until they realize its not sustainable, but its only rumors so I don't want to put my neck out too far.

red, I believe its a "season ticket" deal where you ensure you get the same seat for years to come.

Season ticket makes sense.

I think your right. I have a feeling prices are going to be high for tickets.

I don't like the idea. I have a PSL for Ravens tickets. For football it works great, but racing? Not so much. What will happen is ppl will buy the PSLs and they'll get the tix for face value every year for each event (as long as they own the PSL) and then they'll be able to charge whatever the hell they want for the tickets. It's going to make seating for large groups rather difficult.

If the track doesn't promote and price this right they will lose big time. The attendance at the Indy race started off big but went down every year because people just weren't that interested. Tickets started somewhere around $85. Good luck selling that to a family of 4 now. Grandstand tickets were over $140. Yeah they're more expensive elsewhere, but this track doesn't have the reputation yet. F1 wants too much money from the track to come there and if they don't make it with attendance, then that money has to come from some where, and hopefully not more money from the state.

Does the USGP have longer than a one year contract?

USGP has a 10 year contract, no one would be stupid enough to pay $300 mil for a track with only one race guaranteed. USGP tickets at Indy started at $50 (and went up to 60) for general admission. Most tickets were around $130 for all 3 days combined.

The state hasn't given any money to the track yet either.

Not sure if they're still available, but they were selling PSL's for the track, BUT that does not include the actual tickets. PSL was about a grand and you still have to buy tickets to each event (similar to how pro sports teams do that). I expect the ticket prices to be 3-4 times what Indy prices were, unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong though as I like Austin and want to go.

I would expect tickets to start at $200 or more. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
