Default Four's 2006 Wingless CGM STI

I have spent the majority of my time on my local board and on IWSTI for my build. Purchased the car in February of 2006 and it has been my money pit ever since.

I thought I might start a journal here as well as few had suggested to me on IWSTI.

If you really want to read the story from the beginning, I suggest you start here: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-membe...y-rolling.html

Stock, stock, stock

The car has gone through many stages and changes. Rather than post the explicit details of every stage I decided to just list them.

Stage 2 - OTS Cobb with Cobb TBE
Protune - Cobb TBE, Maddad header, APS CAI - road tuned no numbers
Failed Maddad header, switched to Grimmspeed PnP header setup
Coolingmist meth kit - 280whp/319ftlbs **link
Big turbo build - ATP3076, APS DR525, all supporting w/Coolingmist - 346whp/319ftlbs **link
Failed coolingmist kit - Stock motor/piston #4 goes boom!

..Then the rebuild started from the bottom up

I started with a Rallispec Street block, Innovative Tuning in Buffalo built the heads with Kelford 272 cams. Most of the power mods remained the same with some small changes. I ditched the meth kit after having issues with it from day 1 of the install and decided to set a goal to make similar power or exceed the previous power on just 93oct.

I decided to have the car tuned at EFI logics this time around. however, the IWG of the ATP3076 was sticking and not performing like I wanted. This set up is pre-EFI logics Turbo and EWG build and retune. Note that this is also a Mustang dyno as the last tuner, however it reads a bit higher than my previous shop. Resulted in 388whp/323whp **link

..on to the current stage of the car

Some other notable changes. Pictures do a better job explaining:

Evo 8 Recaros

Always hated the blue, so I decided to upgrade to Evo 9 Recaros and some other interior work

Current upgrade plans

I received my litespeed header. Looking forward to my attempt to break 400whp and pick up some more torque. Other changes will be a Grimmspeed EBCS to replace my MBC and a retune by EFI logics.

I will update more as time goes on. Since building the engine and purchasing a house, my mod plans have slowed as I have been enjoying the car more than wrenching on it. Not to mention the mortgage takes away from the fun a bit.

Thanks for looking!

I love them! I am 6'2" 225 right now and they fit me perfect. Fit well when I was a bit heavier as well. I stuck with the Evo Recaros because I knew I already liked them from the first set I had. HUGE difference between them and the stock seats. Also good on a budget!

Got my gaskets for the header today. For free! Well, in trade anyway. But trade for parts that I dont need or use anymore, so in my book.. that is free!

Just dropped my Litespeed header off here:

Pick it up in about 3 weeks. Tear down of the car will probably start in March sometime when it gets a bit warmer.

Picked up my header from Swaintech today. Coating looks and feels awesome. I put some Never seize on the slip joint and put it back together. Installed the EGT plug as well.

No coating, for comparison

Probably wont start install just yet, but soon. Im excited to get out to EFI Logics in a couple months!

Awesome build...how loud is the ewg being dumped back into the DP? I've always wanted to go EWG, but I wouldn't be able to stand the noise...your dyno videos make it seem no louder than it would be with an exhaust.

Kind Regards,
Ryan

BTW can't believe you still have those 57Maximums! I don't know if you remember, but you commented my thread a long time ago when I sold mine. :P

Yep, still have them. I think the only way I'd ditch them is if I pick up a set of TE37s.

The EWG isn't any louder than an IWG the way I have it routed. Which is exactly what I wanted.

No handling changes, but I dont track my car or do autoX. I did some research on here and IWSTI. There is a member on IWSTI that tracks there car on a regular basis and stated he notice no different using stock, no brace or a lighter brace.

Per the things I have read, it is only there to cradle the engine in case of an accident. It serves no structural purpose. Also, the JDM versions do not have this brace.

I have no info to absolutely confirm this info, but I am not having any issues without the brace.
