Heeeyyy, right on. I like your GMC! I've owned too many of that vintage of GM truck to even count anymore, K5's, K10's, a K20 or two, even a few K10 Suburbans. All Chevys though, never did have a GMC badged version, not that there's really any difference.

1971 El Camino, had it since '99.

More recent but still really old pic, it still looks like this today, except more rusty since it's been parked a while.

Nice, low miles too. My grandpa had one just like that back then, could even be that one!

I found a pic of my last K5.

I put a lot of time and money into this thing, not into paint obviously! I started daily driving it to Anchorage only to have the transmission crap out after six months. Someday I will own another, probably a 69-72 model next.

Here's one of my project trucks. It's a 1980 Ford F150 stepside 2WD with a 300 L6 and a 4 speed manual.

This photo is from a couple years ago. Haven't done much of anything to the exterior of it yet. Got plans for a few modifications in the near future.

Just rolled what I am guessing is 200000 miles this September on what seems like the stock running gear.

I thought I'd treat it to an upgrade, so I started tearing into the engine to bump the power a little bit.

Before: nasty vacuum line mess, damaged poorly tuned 1 barrel carb, bad headgasket.

After: Offenhauser DP Intake, Holley 390, and Hedman headers, ARP Head Studs, new headgasket, 4 new shocks

It's still a work in progress. I don't drive it in the winter, so it's parked at the moment. I mostly just to take trash out with it and go out for Sunday drives with the girlfriend.

Here's the one that I can't seem to get rid of; 1990 W150 Longbed. I've had it for the last 9 years, and poured more blood sweat and tears into it than I care to remember. It was originally my step dad's fathers truck, which he bought new from the dealer. I adopted it when I turned 17.

First day of ownership:

Interior:

Then I got the mod bug. First was paint, as I was in the body and fender class at KCC in Anchorage. I did a lot of extra prep work on the truck more than Mr. Y recommended, just because I wanted to do a good job. It's paid off, as it only has a few spots that are finally showing wear.

Shortly after was the lift and tires, since the truck just didn't look quite right:

At this point I was running 33" tires with 3.55 gears, and a 180hp (at the crank) 318... severely underpowered. I ended up having a planetary gear in my overdrive unit let loose about 4k after the lift. Just barely had enough $ to have the trans rebuilt, and didn't really do much to the truck for about 4 years.

Ended up driving it to the states to attend WyoTech, and on the return trip the truck started acting funny. Made it to Washington, and ended up giving up on finding the problem as I had over 4 dealerships and independant mechanics look at it and scratch their head. Went back to Washington the following year and picked it up from a family members house and limped it back to AK.

Long story short, I wound up picking up a Cummins truck almost exactly like it, and it got wrecked when I slammed into a toyota pickup with no lights on in the middle of an icy road in the winter. Then the other driver took off. Wonderful.

Swap:

Finished up with the old drivetrain in the bed:

Annnnd, as she sits now (without the 4" exhaust):

I know I'm not from AK, but I love old pickups, especially squarebody GMs. Lots of nice trucks in here!

Heres a pic of my toy:

78 C10 Heavy half ton, converted to 4wd. TH350, Twin sticked 205, Vortec headed 350, Edelbrock intake w/QJet, small cam, headers, true duals, locked rear, blah blah blah

Im hoping to go 14 bolt rear soon, and to get some 15x10s and go to a 35" tire. I'm going to stay with the 31s through the winter though.

Sorry for whoring up your thread....

Haha thanks man, I left out a lot of stuff just so I didn't make this my build thread the cummins is its 4th motor, and is on its 4th trans. Axles swapped in from an 85 crew cab with 4.10 gears. 1st gear is all of 5mph, and I'm in 4th by 40.

Nice looking camper special too! Should do a duramax swap...

Figure the thread could use some more old Power Wagon's in it... 66 Dodge Town Panel, has a 383 and 4 speed tranny. Factory LU2 PTO driven winch on the front. One of these days I'll actually get around to restoring it.

^^ That thing is cool. I want to get an old panel truck some day and hot rod it.

There was an old GM Carnation brand milk delivery truck, on Craigslist for free up here in Fairbanks about 4 or 5 years ago.
If I had owned my land at that time, I would have snagged it and held on to it to work on later down the road.

Found this on the web, It looked like this, original paint like this too from what I remember of it...

edit: this is kinda cool.
