Hey guys I have used strickly RP on my suabru and audi for years, however i have been noticing a lot of guys liking Motul lately. I use Motul for tranny fluid and i like it and i know Royal Purple is good. However i am just wondering how it will stack up against Royal Purple

Both companies make several different oils with several different additive packages. Looking at RP, if it is API SN it will have less additives than the older API SL oils. The HPS has more additives than the API SN oils as well. RP 5W-30 will shear to a 20 grade just from shaking the bottle.
![]() Motul has several lines and would be my pick. The Eco-nergy 5W-30 is thin but has the older API SL additive package. X-clean 5W-30 has less additives than Eco-nergy but is thicker than Eco-nergy. Then there's X-lite 0W-30 which is pricey and 300V which is even pricier. Both are made with ester base stocks. -Dennis |
