Yeah, really. If you were a kid who liked cars in the 90s, there's no way you didn't like the blue/white Viper GTS; and when you saw one in real life, you basically **** yourself.

I'm with the 'lol no' guy. And I was a kid who LOVED cars in the 90s.

I am with Skunkers.
No Thanks

Always had a performance car in the garage and probably always will.
Viper has NEVER been on my wish list, either new or used.

Have you guys ever driven one? I rented one when I went to Vegas in 2010 and it was definitely a very fun car; a good example of a "sports car". And that was the MY00 450bhp RT/10; the newer ones are probably insane.

Driven two different Vipers.
Didn't say they aren't interesting, just that I don't care for them.
Rent one for a weekend of cruising around in Southern California, absolutely.
Own one day in and day out, no way.

Don't like the lack of side and rear visibility.
Don't like the sound of the V10.
Don't like the cost to buy and the cost of the insurance.
Don't like the cheap interior.
Don't like the horrible mileage.

For me, cars are a package deal and Vipers feel to me like a garage built kit car.

Both of the Vipers I have driven had been sitting in a garage for so long that they had collected a lot of dust.
I have money and I have friends who have money but I am practical as to where I will waste it.

The IDEA of owning a Viper is way better than reality.
Having 50-100K of your money taking up space in your 3 car garage and costing as much to insure as a daily driver SUV feels like paying alimony to your worthless mall queen ex so she can look good while hooking up with her future ex to be.
If you actually drive one regularly, you have to worry about every cop you pass cause they defilitely are going to be watching you.
You are scared to drive it to most places you want to go because leaving it in the shopping mall parking lot is an invite to damage by all the cell phone talking teens who learned to park the month before.
If you do go somewhere and leave it parked for a few hours there is the fear in the back of your head that it has been vandalized or had the high dollar tires slashed.
You don't want to take it on a trip of any length due to the need to stop often to refill the gas tank.
Your wife will probably really hate it unless she is a member of the female minority who actually enjoys fast cars as opposed to cars that make them feel expensive.

There are probably lots of other reasons but that is a good start on the reason I would never own a Viper even though I can afford one.

Ehhh... Sounds like you like the Viper and is in denial.

No one said about owning one. It is about the Viper being a dream car.

Which you described, ...is a dream car. Like any other exotic.

Exotics are not necessities, that is why they are dream cars for 99% of us.

A Viper is NOT a dream car.
Not for me.

On the other hand a McLaren MP4-12C definitely is a dream car.
Or a Ford GT
Or a Carerra GT
Or if your standards are a bit lower even a Corvette ZR1

But not a viper.

At least not for me.

My rule of thumb: any car that is not available with an automatic or DSC transmission is probably cool. Viper is not an exception.

Not even once. I've since driven three, and put in plenty of track time at Sebring and Barber in them. They're fast, and a lot of the hate they get is unfounded (except the interior), but I'm not crazy about them. Not even on my top 10, even in the 90s growing up.

Alright this guy is obviously way too awesome for life.

'99 Viper GTS ACR; in direct competition with Murcielago (in RWD) as the most enjoyable vehicle I've ever owned.

Also, best fuel mileage of ANY performance oriented vehicle I've ever owned. Insurance was around $12/mo more than STi. Cheapest maintenance of any vehicle I've owned. Personally, it was a dream car, and I want to own another. With that said, I don't know if I would ever own a GenIII or GenIV non-ACR. Furthermore, I cannot wait to see the GenV.

First time for rear quarter windows on a Viper coupe.

It does look like a logical progression from the original 96 GTS coupe.

Wonder how long until someone shows one, or photo-chops one into royal blue with white stripes.

A white hammer-head stripe might look pretty good on that car. With a CF roof between the windshield and rear glass.

And it actually has a worthy interior this time around.
