SAE: I thought about it, and at the end of the day I don't think I even care. I'd be happy with any of them.

I'm trying to figure out if its a specific day. Is it June 20th?

Summit Point isn't even an option on their website yet: http://www.racingbox.us/

It's between Dec 17 and June 21. I'm sure it won't be EVERY day, but they'll have options to redeem it.

Yeah, not worth it for the price. Cool idea, but I'd want to do a few laps for $100 at least.

Just wait for the summit point kart groupon again. It was 4 sessions and a tshirt for like $60.

Or 3 laps for $199. Plus instruction and other such. It's not cheap, no. If you don't want to spend $199, go away. This is purely a fun luxury item.

Thats the exact package I was looking at.
Speaking with a few friends and if they're in, I'm in.

No doubt it's a sweet gig. I wasn't harassing the price as much as the time in the car. One lap, even three, gives you no time to really get the feel of a car, or get the turns or apexes down. When I did summit last on my bike, it took two 15 minute sessions before I was comfortable. Given, I know you wouldn't get "comfortable" with something like this, but it'd be nice to maybe do a 10 minute session where you pit once your time is up.

Because I'm so familiar with the track (not bragging, just been there many, many times), at least I wouldn't have to worry about learning it. Big thing would just be learning the car. Brake points, traction limit, etc. Although I'm sure the instructors probably wouldn't let you push it anyway. Wonder if they give you any sort of "learning" lap before you get to really go. It's tempting....

And I wonder exactly what Ferrari or Aston? I would assume the Lambo would be a Gallardo.

Like mav1c, I know the track, so I think in 3 laps I could have some fun. Not knowing when it would be redeemable is a problem for me, though, as my schedule is going to be significantly less flexible come spring time (and I'd be somewhat surprised if they're planning to do it between now and March-ish).

I'll probably sign up for the 3-lap deal when I get home from work, and if it turns out I can't do it, I'll let my brother use it.

Looks like the Aston Martin is the only manual transmission.

I think the NASCAR laps are a better deal. True, it is a oval, but lots more horsepower in a real racecar and more laps for less money.

It's Jefferson, you are given training and some laps in a Porsche Cayenne to see the track, the cars are a 360, 430, Gallardo, or DB9.

I don't need more horsepower or a real racecar. I wanna drive a Lambo or Ferrari.

Everyone knows the time is too short. But I've always wanted to drive one of these cars, and to drive it on a track like this... it's hard to complain.

I think the Vegas version is a better deal when not a Groupon (granted I'm not familiar with track size for either and didn't bother to look).

Their regular price is $299 for 5 laps in a Ferrari.

Actually...it's easy to complain. This is me...complaining. Jefferson Circuit is about 1 mile long. If it was on Summit Main, or even Shenandoah, I would complain less. Yes, I'd love to drive one of these cars too. Maybe I'll contact them and ask if they need any more instructors.

The groupon says 2.3 miles...

Quote:
Before gripping the wheel, pupils sit back in a Porsche Cayenne while the pro escorts the passenger and one friend around two laps of the 2.3-mile track. A driving simulator further acquaints passengers with the car before allowing them to set foot on the pedal of a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, or an Aston Martin.
Which I thought would mean Main, but in the discussions they say it's Jefferson. Sooooo.... not sure what to do next on that, maybe bitch and moan to get more for the same price?

Wow, even @ 62% off the prices are insane. I'd love to do this though. I could justify if it meant $100 for 10-15 minutes of seat time on the main track. Hell, it was $40 at Hyperfest when you provided your own car for longer than that, and the extra $60 should certainly cover the car for 15 minutes.
