I ended up buying a 2011 WRX sedan.

I went there to go look at the 2010 STi but it was sold. I drove 2 STi, an 08 and 09 hatch. Very solid, but not worth the extra tons of money at the time, a little rough too.

I then drove the 2011 STi sedan, new. That thing is so damn awesome...too awesome for me right now. They said they wanted to get rid of it, being a 2011, but they didn't act like it too badly. It would have been 37K ish...I wish I had 37K lying around. That SPT exhaust sounds great but it seems to be a cop magnet, with the wing too...
This thing is so fun on the Spaghetti Bowl Loop in SLC...handles so flat....6 speed is, well, wow!

So, I took the 2011 WRX Sedan, silver, 12,000 miles, with a roof rack for my boards.
It looks MUCH better with the wide body, night and day really. It has less body roll than the 09 as well.

This will do me for now..Stage 2 and a bit extra, it is nice as is. I will save up for an STi when I get a big-boy job.

Power-wise, there isn't much difference between the WRX and STI after you tune an 09+ WRX (stage II 09 WRX is pretty much the same power as a Stage II 09 STI).

Now if you want a for sure bomb-proof trans, brembos, nicer interior, wide body, and a couple other minor things... Then go for the STI.
top feeds are an easy upgrade. and I don't have that stupid air pump
