Exclamation Need a little bit help.....03' WRX with JDM V7 Heads - Engine Harness Question

Hey everyone, I have an 03' WRX with JDM V7 heads. Since I could not source a JDM V7 Engine Harness, I picked up an 04' STi Engine Harness.

Can I use an 04' STi Engine Harness with my current setup or would it be better to splice in the AVCS and Rear Magnetic Cam Sensor harnesses?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

- Matt

Go to IAperformance and just buy the premade wiring kit... (Do you have the version 7 ECU?) I assume u do if you are trying to get the AVCS to work.

I currently have the IAperformance harness and a version 7 ECU. the problem is my orginal engine harness does not have plugs for the AVCS
and when I plug the IAperformance harness into the big black and big gray plug there is no wires on the other side of the plug to make a conection. so I figured if I bought a 04' STI harness it would solve my issues. However, the 04' STI harness seems to have more plugs than my 03' wrx. Am I doing this right?

Thanks!!

im confused, isnt that what the point of the wiring harness is? Your stock 03WRX engine harness has no AVCS (duh), thats why you have to use the IA wiring kit and "manually" wire it in, via the instructions from IA. Then u plug into your ECU and you should be good to go. When I had my 04 WRX swapped to the JDM, i didnt need to get an STI harness....

On second thought... which IM are you using?

Your talking about the engine harness correct? the IAperformance kit is for the chassis harness. Inorder to do this right your going to need the ej207 engine harness you cant use the usdm 2.5 without wiring changes. Using the ej207 engine harness, the stock chassis harness and the AVCS wiring kit all you need to do is plug it all in and install the AVCS kit in the pinout blocks for the ECU and pass+drivers heads. As far as anything on the block they should plug into the v7 engine harness.
