Default SUBARU Trackday Francorchamps Sunday March 18th 2012!!!

After a huge success last year, The Subaru Trackday Francorchamps will return in 2012!!!

At the moment, there's only this teaser, but like they say...keep tuned!
http://subarutrackday.com

Since the early 1920s, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit has resounded with a thousand and one fabulous tales of those heroic times in which pilots drove on earth roads at the wheel of awesome machines. Conceived by Liège aristocrats within a magic triangle between Francorchamps, Malmédy and Stavelot, its route through the magnificent scenery of the Ardennes has taken on a force of character that has stood the test of time.

In 1939 human imagination gave birth to a unique bend. Raidillon - Eau Rouge was to become famous throughout the world, the cynosure of every driver. As motor sport has evolved, the circuit has always been kept up to FIA requirements in terms of safety over the most prestigious competitions such as Formula 1 and Endurance Sportscar Racing. It has gone back to its roots with the Sports Prototypes. It is looking boldly toward the future and new formulae. At the crossroads of Europe, it is the driving force behind an entire economy and a perfect host site for any promotional activity.

INFO TRACK :
Lenght : 7 km, 3 meter et 95 centimeter
Lap record : M.Schumacher 1'43''726 (2002) (241,837km:h)
car Noise limitation :until 103 DB Scoobies from all over Europe (and far beyond ) will be there!

Welcome

Ever dreamt of driving your Subaru over the Raidillon or through La Source?
On Sunday March 18th 2012, the fifth edition of the “Subaru Trackday – Powered by RareRims” makes this possible. Discover the legendary circuit of Francorchamps alongside other European Subaru fans. The different sessions give everyone the opportunity to enjoy this trackday: from newbies to true experts of the track.
To show our appreciation to our most loyal Subaru fans, we offer an exclusive early-bird package*:
- Order your day ticket BEFORE 15 january 2012 and receive 20 euro discount (215 euro instead of 235 euro)
- Order your day ticket BEFORE 1 february 2012 and receive 10 euro discount (225 euro instead of 235 euro)
* This offer is exclusively valid if the organisation receives the necessary documents and the full payment before dates mentioned above.
In the paddock you will see the fastest, most exclusive and most beautifull Subaru’s from all over Europe.
Explore the booth of RareRims, main partner in this organisation, and our other partners in the Subaru Trackday Village and return home with the best Scoobymods you can imagine. Register your Subaru for the ‘Meguair’s Show & Shine’ and maybe you’ll drive home with a beautiful price. In our rally-showroom, the most impressive rally Subaru’s will be on display.
Subaru clubs can rent an F1 Pitbox to experience the true feeling of a trackday even more. Parking places will be at your disposal to welcome as much Subaruclubs and cars as possible. Subaru clubs present at the trackday will be the link between the organisation and their participants. They will be responsible for the behaviour of their members during this event.

remember...:
-entrance to the circuit-domain until the pits with car is FREE OF CHARGE :there's a large parking spot on the domain...
= low budget meeting!!!

-access without car to the pits:allowed/ FREE OF CHARGE

-access to the tribunes :allowed/ FREE OF CHARGE

-access without car to the pitlane :allowed/ FREE OF CHARGE

...this makes it a pretty low budget day out !!!(if you don't go on the track with a scoobie, of course)
all previous photos were taken on the trackday 2011....and didn't cost me a dime on entrance fee or whatever.

Heh, no, but it is a 6 hour drive back home, and I'd prefer to sleep a little before work

...only if you're engaging a track session and you're the driver/pilot or co-pilot...
Wouldn't suprise me if someone will lent you one ... in the worst case you can buy one on the spot.Sellers will be present.Open helmets are also allowed.

more imortant:
-NO Snow or other slippery, crash causing, speed reducing stuff
-NO RAIN !!!
-NO wind
In case you're wondering: yes , there have been previous sessions that drivers had to deal with all of this....
Last year by the way, the weather was PERFECT:
no wind or rain,
a little nippy (good for oxigen intake thus combustion and low engine temperatures)
and a bit of sun...not tooo much.

(too much sun can blind the driver, heat up the engine/driver/brakes/...not good)

If you know a weather forecast over here is 3 days ahead at the max...
it's like throwing dice, really....

Last year I left for Francorchamps on friday, so me & my wife(= especially the wife) could enjoy the "surroundings' and "cultural aspects" BlahBlah blaH...and it was POURING.
Saturday was dry-even a bit sunny- but
the next night it started raining again.
So on sunday morning I took out the cleaning-first-aid kit with all the surroundings still wet, and cleaned the car with the risk of it all going to waist the next few hours, still being surrounded by grey clouds.
Suprisingly enough it cleared that day...and became a perfect trackday!

done and done. I'm probably going to hit the 'Ring on the way over, still have a few laps left on my card. It will be a nice weekend, that's for sure.

-Drew

Or not, 'Ring is closed for an event. Damn. Oh well, I'll probably use up enough gas anyway.

Track day is next week, any up to meet while we're there? I just got my email, "so you can organize your trip". My eye, been organizing for a while now, lol. Looks like, in my informal totally non-scientific counting, we've got 4 showing: Me, avylyn, jacket_man_man_man, and MGBx88 unless somethings changed. We should grab a beverage or something.
