The guy that I use is really good he can hook you up with either a street tune or a dyno tune he has lots of experience. We just did a street tune for my 11 sti with basic mods and then we are going to throw it on the dyno in a few months when I gets some more goodies. His name is Richard (801) 597-0225. He will travel any where in the valley he works alot with the Guys at GVI autoworks out in west valley.

Yeah I have been really pleased with him. He knows so much about cars and how to make them fast and safe I have had other tunes before where all they did was up my boost like crazy well Richard dose an all around great tune he knows how to get the power at lower more consistent boost levels. Have you ever seen the you tube video of the 800 how sti? Well that's his motor he is actually going to do a twin turbo set up on the motor to get it around 1200 hp.

I'll vouch for Jesse (907bum) too and steer you away from Richard if at all possible. Had a bad experience with Richard.

Boostcreep ltd. and. Afaik Richard bought that motor off of Mitch warren. That and 2 turbos is a funny way to make 1200 lol.

There's no reason to drive all the way to CO for a tune. Plenty of people have had great experiences here in the valley.

If you want a good reliable tune with good power you'll call Jason cleverly. Aka Medamullet on here.

Please be more specific. What exactly does Harvey offer that Jesse does/can not provide? Reliability? Power? Not trying to start another one of these " tuner wars", just interested know what you think is so magical about Harvey.

Everyone has their tuner that the prefer to go to. But I would say experience would be my biggest reason. Nothing personal.

I understand your point but Experience isn't everything. John schafer had plenty of experience and came highly recommended but he still charged me almost 500 bucks for a completely horrid tune that would routinely pull 5-6* timing under wot. On top of that his customer service was terrible emails, messages, phone calls were all ignored. I'm sure Harvey is good but its not exactly practical for everyone to make that kind of a trip everytime you change a part for a retune. I think for the op's set up/ goals Jesse could deliver a powerful and reliable tune for a lot less $ with much greater convenience.

^^ well stated. Jesse couldn't be easier to work with compared to the other 2 local tuners I used previously. Jesse's provided at least 4 different tunes for my car: Agressive Stage II for my OEM turbo w/ built block, 91 oct for my BNR 16GEvoX turbo, 91 oct for my BNRhta68 turbo and now E-85 for my BNRhta68 set up.

As the mechanicals have piled up on my car it has been nice to know that a tuner is right down the street to make sure all is well as repairs/upgrades have been done.

Flipside: I purchased a tranny because of a decision made by a tuner, and purchased many other unnecessary parts because of a tuner's recommendation.

To each his own.

John tuned 2 of my cars. I went to him because at the time that was the only dyno available. As my car cannot be street driven it has to be tuned on a dyno. He actually tuned my car 3 times and I still was not happy with those tunes. As I did trades with him I only spend a little money.

After being given several recommendations for Harvey I went to him and my tune has been great, car gets beat to **** every time its driven and I have yet to have any issues. Once my car is tuned I dont go changing parts on it, so I have no reason to go back, but taking my car to get tuned once a year in CO isnt a bug for me. I make it a weekend trip.

I am not saying Jesse or anyone else local that is tuning is not good. I just choose Harvey.

Understood. I guess I mis-interpreted your original post as saying: "there is no one in this state that's any good". What you really were saying is that you think Harvey is well worth the trip for your particular situation. Don't take this the wrong way but a majority of us don't have the means to purchase all components all at once and then have it tuned. Most of us build our cars a few pieces at a time, as our budget allows. Again don't take that the wrong way.

Well I think when most people do a turbo upgrade they get all the supporting mods at the same time. fuel, intake etc etc. which is what I did.

Yeah, i'm from Utah but now i live in Colorado. Harvey is 45 minutes away from me and my car has only been on his dyno twice in two years. I feel like most people don't throw their car on a dyno once a month, but wait and do one big round of modifications and then tune the car. Seeing as how every tuning session is $500+, i like to minimize/ condense my tuning trips, despite his convenient location.

I see you point but let's keep in mind the original intent of this thread. This guy is looking for a simple stage 2 set up. Wouldn't he be better off getting a tune locally with a proven, quality tuner?

I recommended Richard to tune a friend of mine. So, I gave my friend his number, and sent him on his way. Richard couldn't get boost levels to stay where they should. He pulled out the restrictor pill and didn't put it back in. Thaaaatttts RICHARD! He also blew up the motor in another friend's car on a TD04! So... yeah. I don't recommend him.

Jesse and Jason Cleverly (medamullet) do an awesome job for tuning. Ziptie Dynoworks is shut down temporarily if I remember correctly.
