Default Reasonable swaps into 02' legacy 5spd?

I just found out tonight that not only did my recently acquired 02' outback have headgasket failure, but that it's had an EJ22 swapped into it.

I've started another post, but I'd like to know what this swap takes, and what it would take to un-do it, or swap in something else?

Given that they were EJ22's for around 10 years of production we need more information to really give you any help.

What is the code on the ECU for instance? Is it single OHC or dual? Pictures of the engine might be helpful as well.
