Angry im selling my car

ok, I have a Silver 2002 2.5rs with 27k on the clock. I got this about a year and a month ago. This car has been From Chicago Illinois to savannah GA 1k drive IIRC six times in this year, it has been on ten 600 mile chicago to northern michigan trips and alot of driving from the suburbs to chicago and back.
Mods are:
Morette headlights(I have stocks also)
2001 RS rims
2002 RS rims
ADR RS2000 rims with tires (less then 5k on them) (17s)
Subaru 4 pot brakes
Trans Cooler
Slottted rotors
Foglights
Security system upgrade
Cobb N/A-turbo cams
Cobb CAI
ProECM chip
Whiteline springs
Cusco 20-22-24 rear sway bar(iirc)
Kartboy endlinks
Trunk light mod
New speakers all around, new tweeters and a head unit (all gift of an audio friend for when bought my car)
A pillar with Autometer Phantom Boost, Tranny temp and EGT (read below)
Custom built turbo kit with FMIC, TD04, J/S 2 and supporting mods(fuel pump, injecors, regulator, oil pan, lines, fittings, exaust, tapped headers...)
a kit which was planned on being installed this weekend but I am having issues I might need to resolve which would mean selling the 2.5rs.
I also have a blown block I bought off an i-club memeber that I was going to use in a motor build up...and supporting parts are on order but will be cancelled in the next few days if I can move this car to a new owner.
I also have a pe1820 for my motor build and a AVC-R boost contoler

I am not parting out for a few weeks so don't even start the dibs...you vultures.

Issues: This car has been auto-x'd, offroaded, track raced and brought to the drag strip. It has a dent on the hood (I will replace hood for you) and the car has two 3 inch scratches on the stock wing and the front bumper has wear from rocks (highway driving damage).

I would like to see what people would offer me for my car. Please PM me.

Thanks for looking if you are intrested please PM me, IM me and email me. don't post here, because in the next few days I will not have the time to look.
-Neal

Well i have been doign alot of thinking lately about what I am asking of my car and what my car can give myself.

Basically subarus AWD system on the automatic is a economatic AWD it is not true born blood AWD.

basically I bought a car that is at most 90/10. I have a FWD car that sometimes gets a push from the back.

The handeling characteristics of the car have gone to crap. This car can't drift, off throttle oversteer only if I push the car and if I am on the gas, the car still acts like a better handeling version of the civic.

I like cars that have a happy tail end. You manual guys and automatic wrx's have the ability to have a power on overstear because 50% of your pwoer can go to the rear. I just can't do that. I get very fusterated with the car in that aspect.

I still don't want to get a manual car for the fact is I am still unsure of the long term effects of my injurys and I rather not risk it.

I love AWD, I love that whole idea...I love that killer pull off the line with awd. But my car is not awd..I would like to call it AWFD (all wheel front drive)

its fusterating for me.

I just talked to my parents for a few minutes and we are going to talk about it over dinner, but basically I need to find a way to make this AWD more of a true AWD system. And then there is this issue...i don't want this car to be a money pit. I have seen members allover i-club make their stock cars into money pits of broken parts, unhappy owner and broke check books. I don't wanna sink 10 thousand dollars into my car and have a fwd boat that has a 90/10 awfd split.

I also just got an offer for a RWD car that I have been eyeing for a few weeks. The guy said on weds he will put the car on the market. So I have till weds to come up with alot of money.

right now I am lost, I love the crowd...I love the car, but I want a better power AWD characteristics then I have.

I am going to go eat dinner now...

sorry to hear that Neal. Good luck to whatever you get it and don't disappear...you're too much fun on this board

there's always the new autostick legacy? I'm sure a lot of the parts you have can swap over.

Broken parts? Money pit?

Oh wait...

The key to remember is that these are just cars. Watch your budget and keep a reserve.

What else??

Oh yeah. Remember your priorities.

hmm... Time to get out of cars.

Somehow I think I may have had a small part to do with this the day I took you for a ride....

OK.... Let's talk realistic..

Get a used 4eat WRX, bout 18k.

Get in on the Protorque swap and your talking $495 all said and done (you resell your old converter)

Let's talk power.... Since all you ever wanted was a mid-13 second car, you CAN do that on the stock turbo... get an up-pipe, turbo back, hack the airbox, 550's, and a fuel pump.

Exhaust $1000
Up-pipe $180
pump $75
565's $380

So far you have $2130 in mods. Figure you spend $1000 on my little box for tuning, and I GUARANTEE YOU that I can tune you to your mid 13's low 13's.... ON THE STOCK TURBO...

So.... You can have your cake and eat it too.... Start shopping for a 4EAT rex and then sell the turbo stuff off for the money for the rex mods.. transfer your gauges, tranny cooler, etc., over, and enjoy!

You know we're here for you bud,

and what good is that in auto-x when you get your ass handed to you because your power is not there...remember neal's not just a straightline boy, he actually likes to turn.

but that's just my $.02

J

p.s.: 21k later you'll have a used WRX that has virtually no warranty(or knowledge of previous use) when he's already at that point with his auto RS

BUT... addressing his reasons for wanting to get rid of it in THIS thread, his concerns would be covered...

If he has more to deliberate on, he hasn't mentioned it here, or in person.

While sitting in RallyRcr's Garrage today next to an STi 4EAT, I started the conversation about the WRX's platentary center diff and how I lusted for it.

Then Jon basicly said how he doesnt think the WRX's tranny is that hot **** at all. and explained some stuff I have noticed about the Active AWD that the RS has (and all previous Subies including that RARE Sti auto I was sitting next to).

He talked about how predictable, and solid it was, and I can see that. He also talked about how you need to learn how the drive the tranny to be happy with it. This is coming from someone who has more subaru parts and cars laying around than anyone I know. I think Jon is right, there is NOTHING wrong with the 4EAT or even the 5MT center diffs. The 90/10 torque bias isnt that bad, and can be altered with some minor work... Jon meantioned in some testing he had it to like an 85% rear bias with some work.

And Neal... Get some better drugs jeeze your mood swings are scary! Your tranny is fine, and since you seem to think its like a Honda FWD tranny with like a rubber band going to the back, you may want to read up some more on how advanced the 4EAT subie tranny is. Its still more of a high end AWD system than any 5MT subie makes. You seem like you want 4x4 or something where it just is a locked center diff or all RWD...

I dunno, I just think you should get over it! The car is only a money pit as much as you make it one. Do smart mods, not mods that down the road will require a TON of time to fix.

basically I am fusterated. I am a rwd boy and I wanted awd do be like RWD when you get on the hammer, basically an 2k2 4eat 2.5rs is just not that. IMO. I knew 2 guys with subies before I got this. one was a 5spd obs and a legacy guy, basically that is the way they discribed the AWD of the subie it me. I read all the propoganda and was sold. But now since I have pushed the car, been for rides in the others. I have come to the conclusion that this auto is not what I wanted. Now seeing bills for motor parts and turbo kit parts in my face and also seeing that even the basic part of this car is not what I initially thought. I am kinda, well, fusterated.

Aren't all legacys 4EAT's also? ( infact the same 4EAT as is in your car?)

Also... you are bitching about engine bills and such pile'n up, thats your fault man, not the cars fault. Don't blame the car for your need to mod it. I am damn sure you could own the car and never have to spend a buck on engine mods if you didnt want to, which in the end would leave the car fairly cheap on the pocket book. Its pretty backwards to get pissed at a car about you wanting to spend 10k in parts on it.

Sounds like you just got a bad case of buy'rs remorse. I say you just get over it. You already spent the money, mod'd your car, now just enjoy it and dont get hung up that its not a Mustang GT or something.

Also, the incredible loss you will take selling the car will get you twice since most of the latest mod parts you got, you will prolly never recover the money from.

So what does it cost to make it a 50/50 split?
Are there any realistic options?

Sounds like you need a WRX VTD tranny swap. More money, but I'm sure it's worth it.

I'd have to agree with your parents. Not the "clean your plate" syndrome. But you're really far into your project. If feasible, see this through to fruition. Once it's done, I think you'll feel better about the car.

I think the whole 50/50 split thing is highly over rated. Everyone thinks its the best thing, but no one knows why

In some very specific cases 50/50 is nice, but in the majority of all driving you never would notice any difference due to how fast the Active-AWD system can transfer power.

if I were neal I would just be bent about no rear LSD. I think thats far more impactful in daily driving than the center diff which adapts to your driving, and road conditions. Also expect about 4000$ for a new WRX tranny... Oh but you will need a new TCU also, and there is rumors that the ECU from the RS doesnt jive with the TCU from the WRX.

Its all just a bunch of over sensative hype I think. and ****... why not just pick up a beater Rustang to use when you get a RWD craze on... you can get POS Rust's for a grand or so.
