Default Hemi v8 swap into 2002 impreza

Ok so this is just mainly a thought I've seen a Chevy ls motor swap into one so I want to know if it's possible to do with a hemi or the smaller v8. Currently this is a back up plan cuz I have a 2002 impreza with a blown motor the plan is to pull the motor and figure out wat exactly is wrong and if it can be rebuilt or not if not im going to swap in a v8 so I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with this and how hard it would be to do?

as long as it fits between the frame rails & you do something for clearance on the hood if you need any, you can ALWAYS fit anything to anything with the custom adapting motor mounts, trans mounts, as well as matching up prob just about any trans to any motor with a bellhousing adapter plate

Ive seen a couple small block V8 swaps as well as LSX chevy block swap like u said. So we know it can be done, put like the guy above said you will need to fab up some custom mounts and probably a few other parts so ensure everything fits. The tunnel should be large enough to run most trannys but you may have to go RWD since space may restrict the front diff

Why dont you just get a wrx or sti engine and slap it in? I think itll be easier and maybe cheaper too.. Youd have your AWD still also

Get a rough measurement of the total height of a Subaru engine, from the bottom of the oil pan to the top of the throttle body. Most engines will be too tall

Get a rough measurement of the total length of the subaru engine, from the crank pulley to the bellhousing. You will find most engines are too long

You can make anything fit but you'll lose power to the front wheels, have to raise the hood and have less ground clearance.

There is a reason so many home made and kit Airplanes/Helicopters use Subaru engines

^^the size and the reliable part, its efficient

rebuild your motor or swap in another ej, it'll be much easier, and in the end of your v8 swap after all the $, you might regret it, cool, but not as cool/easy to track down all our bolt-ons avail

This is correct but not for the reason you think. The problem is the rack is mounted much higher in the engine bay than most cars. Can be changed but not without creating it's own issues with steering geometry.

This is a crossmember I modified to house a toyota engine in a Legacy.

The rack is now a lot lower and will need correcting at the tie rod ends to stop bumpsteer etc.

i figured out the block is gonna be salvigable so im probly just going to rebuild enless i find a good deal on a sti motor. the thought of swapping in a v8 though is still in my mind ive been working on seeing wat all id need to modify to do such a thing so far i think i could fit a small block v8 in it with not to bad of modifications but like someone said i would have to go rwd and i dont think i wanna get rid of my awd just yet lol
