Default 1994 GC8 Rally Car Project Build (WA)

Moving This thread from SWIC. I recently moved to Washington from Arizona so I am continuing the build in in NWIC! Enjoy!..

First off all i'd like to give credit to Stef (Freeskier), and American Motorsports for welding the cage in this car, excellent job guys!
This is a continuation build of Freeskiers project, things have gotten a tad rusty since he last touched it so ive spent the last few days sanding down the roll bars and rusted body areas for a new paintjob!!
Heres some pics! CHECK OUT THE LAST PAGE FOR THE MOST RECENT PICTURES AND INFO ON THE BUILD!!

And here is the trailer ride back to my place!

Once i got it home i started on sanding all the roll bars to primer and paint them.. should be painted in the next day or so!

Heres the latest work.. under the hood was a bit rusty so i sanded it all up and put some high temp primer to stop the rust

I've been working hard, heres the V6 wing mounted. a picture of the motor im swapping in, currently has 6 speed but im swapping with the stock 5spd..

What a mess!

and heres the old crossmember, im swapping it with an 02 wrx one (already mounted to a subframe so i thought it would just be easier

i had a little issue with the sub-frame not fitting with the 02 wrx cross-member, however this car never had a sub-frame in the first place, so why not keep it that way? the new cross-member is officially mounted in the car and i will be putting the motor in, in a matter of days.. also all the fenders/bumpers have been ordered except for the hood which cannot be shipped long distance due to size and weight restrictions, so if anyone knows of a rs hood for sale let me know!

Also im repainting the cage because im definitely not satisfied with the blue...

pictures of the recent activity!

its finally started to cool down a bit in phoenix so ive been getting work done! i cleaned out the inside to paint on some clear sealant to keep it from rusting, and i got the 02 wrx pedals in, i always read about people having alot of issues with this, as long as you have all the right size bolts. its pretty much just a bolt on, except for one bracket on the far upper right hand side you will not be able to secure to the firewall. still more than perfectly sturdy without that bolt.
aalso while i was doing the pedals i decided to put the brake and clutch master cylinders in aswell. also pretty simple except for getting the little cotter pins to connect them to the pedals.. in a small smace its not very fun. probably should had put the dash in last haha. heres the recent pictures!

i wish i would had gotten better quality pictures for this whole build.
But ill have to get some awesome pictures of it in action when the time comes!

I got some new fancy wheels in the mail the other day! Team Dynamics pro rally 15x7 +40
got some junker tires on them for the meantime. as i was putting them on i realized there was a couple inches of play on the passenger front side. so it looks like im going to have to get a wheel bearing pressed in on that side as well as a ball joint and tie rod end because they were pretty rotted out, so after thats done ill be back at the wiring! Also good news. tomorrow ill be taking my WRX into goodspeed to get a brand new 2.5 block dropped in thanks to EvilImports for the deal on the block!

Pictures of the latest stuff!

Its parts ordering time, not much left to do so im just getting the essentials to get it running and functional. i had to order a new outer tie rod end, lower ball join and wheel bearing because there was some damage. also i got a new ATL fuel cell. so im working on finding a way to get that mounted. if anyone has experience with fuel lines/pumps/filters and all that id love to hear some advice, also im working on the brakes and wiring. id like to strip the wiring down but im not very experienced with that so im looking for advice in that aswell. here are some pictures!
