Default 2005 wrx fuel filter

I am looking to replace my fuel filter in my 05 wrx. I wan to do this as to try and improve on my mpg. It has 69k on it and has never been changed, I am doing a bunch of maintenance soon and figured i would throw this in with the mix. My question is should i replace with a stock unit or just replace with a walbro? I know that it states it does not need to be changed but i would like to for my own sanity.

thank you for any help
Jay

Do you plan on doing any mods that would require the walbro? And if it ain't broke...

It's not broke I understand where your coming from there so would I be looking at just throwing a new sock on the pump if I don't want to upgrade the pump right now

The fuel filter isn't really the "sock" per se - that's just to catch big stuff, I imagine - the actual filter is in-line with the pump.
