Default 02 WRX Problem

Recently had a timing belt, water pump, and new aluminum radiator put on my 02 WRX which has 96,000. After we brought it home it made a whirring sound that was never there before. Then about 300 miles after the job i was on a pull and the tone of the car changed and when i came to the next stop sign it was idling rough and the check engine light came on. I checked the codes with my AP and it said cylinder 1,2,3,4 misfire. Ive replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the MAF. Spark plugs only have 3,000 on them. Any help?

Also forget to mention that the car runs fine at anything above idle.

Maybe let the Better Business Bureau know if they are going to be that stand-offish with you? I've had run-ins like that years ago with a motor builder.

Find a nearby shop (get recommendations from your regional forum), take it there and have them diagnose the issue and correct it if they can. Then go after the original shop for reimbursement.
It may be as simple as a hose being left off or the belt is off a tooth or two.

If the belt was off would it run right at regular driving speeds? I feel no loss of power what so ever. Just very rough idling.

Before you go badmouthing the shop, bring it in and have them take a look - sucks that it's an hour away, but that's the shop you chose. Maybe they'll blame it on something else, maybe they'll see a vacuum hose off which you missed (I am sort of assuming you have been under the hood and verified that no hoses are disconnected or connectors unplugged, spark plugs haven't worked themselves loose, etc.)

What you need to worry about is if the belt jumped a tooth or two (maybe the guides aren't on there right, the tensioner is messed up, etc.)

I called the shop that did the job and they seemed to careless if it got fixed or not. And they are the closest shop to me as a matter of fact. If it did jump time and is off a couple teeth how would it run fine at anything above idle?
