Default flip down tv install on 2012 WRX

I have a 2012 WRX premium (sunroof) and put an aftermarket dash DVD player installed. What I am wondering is if anyone has installed a flip down monitor from the rear dome light. I am figuring that it may be tricky or may be a small tv, but I want a tv in the back for my son to watch when we run around town. If it has been done, what size/ brand could he used to pull this off? Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

What about those tv's that attach to the head rests?

Thanka for the recommendation, I have thought about it, but I was looking at that as a last resort. I know folks who steal will steal but I want to make it a little harder than taking them off the seats. If its bolted into the top, they will have to work a little harder to get it, you know?

I hear you, but I don't really know much about in-car systems to give you any useful info. Something else to consider would be a cheap tablet (1rst gen iPad, Kindle fire, etc) that you leave in the passenger seat's back pocket.

If the tv idea don't work it may come down to that too. Got a tablet, just have to get WiFi hotspot on my plan to so that to stream movies. That may be a cheaper alternative.

It definitely can be done. You will be limited on mounting space and running the cabling because of the sunroof shade but it's not difficult.

The main thing to consider is that most overhead DVD players are designed to go in vans and SUVs, in a car you have to consider the space constraints of less headroom. Take some measurements between the headrests of the front seats to make sure whatever unit you get will clear.

I hear what you're saying, but what's easier to steal - a unit attached to your roof, or a unit you took off the headreast and brought inside your house for the night?

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I got my measurements, I think I may be able to get away with maybe a 7". I just need a good mounting support bracket for the tv solid enough to be supported by the support bar where the dome light is.
