Default Full spool At 2600 RPM

Just wanted to let everyone know that you can get the stock turbo to spool pretty early, for a reasonable amount of money. Running factory boost control, I reach full spool at 2600 rpm with UP/DP and lightened crank pulley.

Best I did was a 400Hp turbo on full boost at 3200rpm (20psi) and at that it made 130KW ATW (200odd HP) at 3200rpm, torque was in the 350ft/lbs range at 4000rpm.
All i needed was more cubes 2.4L stroker!

Although it's kinda hard to judge, looking from one gauge to the other, but I think the Samco IC hoses will lower that a bit more. I'm not running factory boost control though, I start building at 2k to about 15PSI at about 2.5k to 2.6k.

Area under the curve is better than top end any day.

If you have an obdii scanner, or datalogger, I'd love to see a graph of RPM vs LOAD vs MAP...

Still building up funds for engine management datalogging capabilities.

desiwrx02, what gear are you measuring this in and with what gauge?

I can get full boost a little before 2750 rpm in 5th gear, but it goes up higher when I get in lower gears. I think I'm sitting around 3300 in 1st gear, but it's really hard to tell since it goes by so fast.

FWIW, I have just a Stage 0.

With a catless exhaust, vishnu unichip, and an itg panel filter I had the stock turbo spooling to 15psi by 2350rpm in 4th gear

I'll have to check higher gears, I usually use third as a reference.

Im tempted to say that this is in all gears. I had a friend sit in the backseat, and tell me when the gauge shot up to one bar, and i watched RPM. (Greddy Mechanical) I can gurantee that it is 2600 in second and so on. Sometime this week, i will take my car out and with a friend videotaping (RPM and Boost gauge) from the back seat I will do a bunch of tests. I figure its easier to just drive, and then watch the gauges (rpm and boost and EGT at 1/8 speed or something.) I was going to test the 1/8th restrictor, 3/16 restrictor, then test the two Factory boost control's through the grainger solenoid (discussed in other threads) and see what the differences are and whether the solenoid will induce spiking. I will also dial in my MBC, through the grainger solenoid at this time.

jimb: what parameters would the ECU use to calculate the LOAD value it uses in its maps? I'm guessing RPM, TPS, speed, IAT????

Desi: I am VERY - actually, make that - EXTREMELY interested to see the video tape and/or results of your testing...
