Smile My 2.5rs 1/4 times

courier
I raced my automaic 2.5rs friday night. My mods are Greddy evo exhaust, injen cold air intake and 55 shot of nitrous (zex).
My first run.
R/T- .619
60'- 1.799
330- 6.020
1/8- 9.516
mph- 70.83
1/4- 15.362
mph- 86.90
this would have been my best run except that I slowed down to early, because I did not realize where the finish was.
My best of 6 runs, This was my last run.
R/T- .559
60'- 2.084
330- 6.187
1/8- 9.612
mph- 71.77
1/4- 15.053
mph- 90.24
I know I could have gone into the 14's but I had a full tank of gas and Sunday I did the spg mod so hopefully next week end, I can go into the 14's. if i can get that 1.799 60' time again that would help also. any suggestions. My next mod will be borla header and random tech cat as soon as they get here.

Any feed back, does anyone have a similar set up on an auto, that has better or worse times, any feed back would be helpful.

hey redchris,
i have just about the same setup in my car i have a auto 99 rs with n1 exhaust and intake with zex. i just wanted to know how you used your zex. i havent taken my zex to the track actually im pretty scared to use it, i dont know how you did it please let me know. Did you just put it in drive and shoot it all the way down the strip or did you use the gear selector?

When I drag race, I just put it in drive, flip the switch and power brake the start to about 2500 rpms, this seems to work the best. because the nitrous does not kick in until 3000 rpm (i think), but if done right you should be able to start almost as quick as a manual transmission.

the zex system triggers of wot.. its a hair shy on the pedal feel as it clicks right before the pedal hits floor but id say load the trans at part throttle and as soon as ya need drop the brake and hammer it and the zex will kick in get ya good luanch ect..

i was curious as i have a stick but with an auto is it safe to just hold the gas down between the auto shifts or would it roast a tc? bunch of boost without it shifting quik just gave me a bad idea and not like the auto shifts good when ya lift throttle at shift point.. any idea's on this?

Aha.... now I put 2 and 2 together. I had parked my stock 5-speed 2.5RS by the time you made that pass, so I got to watch it. Its good to see dueling Scoobies out there.

My best run...

R/T 0.665 (My worst R/T of the night. Best was a 0.523 and I had a 0.494 RL)
60 2.152
330 6.501
1/8 10.168
1000 13.325
1/4 16.024
MPH 83.41

As autocross is more my forte, the times aren't that wonderful. I may come out again in the future, but its not too exciting for me. After the 2-3 shift, I get bored.

Damn WRX driver must have sucked balls. They run almost a full half second faster than that stock.

ANY racing is gay IMWO (In My Wife's Opinion) but hey, it's different strokes for different folks. She thinks racing is useless and time being wasted when you could be doing something positive like community service, spending time with children or something. You can't argue with that. You can take it to any extreme.

I think your 60ft time is very very impressive. I have only been able to manage mid to high 1.8's at best using nitrous. Makes me imagine what a high stall torque convertor launched with nitrous would be like. 1.6's anyone?

I think that 1.799 was a fluke or the track screwed up because I have ran gone 6 runs since then and my best since then is a 1.9, 2.0 consistently.

And what year is your RS? Maybe we should met up down there at PIR one of these times, and have a big Subie Shootout, or something. Heck, let's get as many Subies down there as we can, and take over the thing! I've got a G-Tech Pro, and it gives my 1/4 times at mid 15's @ 90 MPH (GanzFlow CAI, K&N panel filter, Stromung axle-back exhaust, short throw shifter). Either my G-Tech is optimistic, or I just have some mad skillz, y0! I'd like to get a couple real timeslips before I do my turbo kit, so I can have some before/after comparrisons.

Pretty good times. Have you ran the car without the Nitrous?

With pretty close to the same mods as you (50hp NX kit), I ran a 14.7@90mph with my 5-spd. My 60ft. times weren;t as good as yours though. Nice setup

I ran a 16.5 without the nitrous but it is a auto, the nitrous helped a lot. Hondahater, it would be great to get a bunch of subarus together and race at pir, but the 2000 auto is for sale but I have a 2000 manual coupe, not really a racer but it looks good I could take that. all that it has is an intake so I do not think it would put up much of a fight. but if the auto is not sold than it can be their also. I am asking 15,995 for the car if any one is interested. it has 65k miles and brand new paint job. It is in autotrader right now, but I think they listed it as a 2002, but it is a 2000 four dour. Their is a picture at www.autotraer.com. Their is already a few subarus that show up, the last time I was there, I think four 2.5s were there and 3 wrx's. so i think we could get a good amount of people there.

Hey, Lets all meet up at PIR soon!!!! I went last friday night, first night of the late night drags this year. Here is how it went...

I raced my car for the very first time last friday night, 4/11 at Portland International Raceway. My third pass of the night was my fastest. I had half a tank of gas and everything was normal on the car (ie, recommended tire pressure, spare in the trunk, etc). My only mod to the entire car is an Injen CAI. Here are my times...

R/T--------.506 (.006 from a perfect light, blah!)
60'--------2.015
330'------6.128
1/8-------9.569 at 70.91 mph
1000'----12.618
1/4--------15.186 at 87.61 mph

I released the clutch at about 3800 and made the pass in 4th gear. It was a high humidty night and about 50-55 degrees. Anyway, i think 15.0** is possible with a higher rpm launch(if you want to risk it) and possible better shift points. I was shifting before the redline, usually around 6k. The top end just isn't in these cars, it is all about taking everyone off the line and watchin them try to play catch up at the end of the track! Its quite funny actually.

New times with just my Injen intake. This time I removed my spare tire, jack, and the front plates that block the hood scoop and vents. Other then that, the car is stock. Also had 3/4 tank of gas.

R/T--------.610
60'--------1.979
330'------6.039
1/8-------9.465 at 71.37 mph
1000'----12.459
1/4--------15.005 at 88.51 mph
