Default Easy Streets 10 sec. pass

Hi everyone, thanks for all the great response. There have been many threads about our debut, so I'll post this thread for you all. Sorry, it has taken a little while to get this posting up, but it has been real hectic since the race's.
So, here's the official scoop:

Easy Street Motorsports, Inc has teamed up with Tony Rigoli Performance to make lightning fast Subaru performance available to the U.S.

The WRX has been prepped for about 1 1/2 months now and the motor/trans was delivered the day before the race. Two of the three Rigoli sons came to the U.S. to help install and tune the monstrous set up.
With help from many people we were able to get the car ready for the "Battle of the Imports"

The SPECS:

2002 US WRX
OEM EJ 20 motor and heads stroked to ?????

Default Hello

Nice time and congrats!

BTW: Could you send me your 1/4 mile information so I can add it to my sight (for personal reference if nothing else). It would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks if you could. I'm talking about 1/8 mile time and mph as well as your 60ft time. I think everyone else stated everything else. Oh...btw...if you don't mind saying....what nitrous kit did you use, if any?

Default 10 sec. esx

continue:

Sorry we can't give out the details about the stroke, but it will be available real soon -for now call it a Rigoli/ESX Stroke.

T-66 Turbonetics ball bearing turbo charger
Micro-tech engine management
Custom ESX/Rigoli intercooler and piping

Fuel system:
4 750cc injectors and a Bosch fuel pump

Oznos nitrous kit with a NOS bottle

transmission is a custom 5 speed dogbox
custom brass clutch

stock drivetrain - axles, shafts, diff's etc.

Interior
6 point NHRA certified roll cage
a pair of 5 point DJ seat belt harness's
Autometer Phantom Tach w shift light, oil press, and H2O temp in stock position.
Autometer Phantom boost guage in dash pod
standard interior otherwise.

12.5 lb Velox wheels w/ Falken Azenis tires

bigger hood scoop and a spoiler risers.

that's about it.

Our first run was 11.2 @ 134.9 MPH, this was with NO nitrous,
28 lbs of boost
1.89 60 ft. really easy launch and mellow shifts

Our second run was 10.73 @ 135 MPH
that was with a 50 shot of NOS and 28 lbs of boost
lot's of wheel spin at the start and in third gear, and we had a lot of clutch slippage in fourth, enough that we had to shut off the nitrous early in fourth gear. That's why we had the same MPH as our first run but with a much quicker ET. A slower 60 ft however.

Our third run the tail shaft of the trans broke.
oops.

However we repaired it and headed up to Sacramento for the CMI Import shootout. Which nobody has spoken about at all. I suppose not many I-clubbers were in attendance, however there was about 10 WRX's.

We only ran 1 time.
I believe we qualified in 1st position in the quick 8,
we ran a 10.8 @ 129 MPH
the clutch slipped in fourth and went to rev limiter and I shut it down, therefore the low MPH.

We had a lot of fun over the weekend and we look forward to seeing all of you guys at the track

For the $1000. Subaru prize, it was down the two very fast WRX.s A black sedann (Stealth WRX) and a silver wagon ( Jaime, sorry I don't recall his last name, a local Bakersfield shop owner. Both were on NOS
In the final round - heads up - the wagon won . Congratulations Jamie, and thanks Nick and all the rest of the contestants. We should be having another race in November.

Ira Liflands white wagon won 1st place in the car show
Gina Heekin won 1st place in the Elimintor class.
And we set a new world record.

Thanks goes out to all the guys at EASY STREET MOTORSPORTS
Rigoli family,
RT TECh
Steve's autobody,
Billitworks, Rags 2 riches, Ralph Phillips, Ira Lifland, James Sajor, Mike Makara, Mike Lauricella ( Easy Street NO. California), Johnny and Pasha Afshar and Christine Moore, sorry if we forgot any one.

We hope to break our own record real soon, the cars capable of much quicker times.

Default Congratulations

First of all congratulations on blasting into the 10's. It was sweet to see that vidio.

One question for you. Everyone has been focusing on the power side of the equation.

Were you running a basically stock suspension system ? If not can you give an idea of the type of mods made.

My concern is the safety angle. As the first on this side of the pond to run those times in a new age WRX it would be nice to get a heads up on just how spooky it got on you at mid track and if you have any warnings on things to expect when you start putting down that kind of power.

From the vidio it looked like the car was a handful about mid track. If so was it a torque steer thing, rear end trying to outrun the front end . Aerodynamic issue due to front end lift on acceleration and 100+ mph etc.

I know short wheel base cars with big power can be very unforgiving if they get away from you, so any warnings on what to expect, would be greatly appreciated by other explorers in the max acceleration club.

The safety factors are very important.
We have followed the NHRA rule book to a "T"
You must have the right rollbar, helmet, jacket, harness, seat mounts, the list goes on and on. Follow the book , it's the best guide created for this sport as well as by people who love this sport.
and yes the car is a handfull, however if you have ever driven a car that fast I think they all require a certainty in your driving.
I have driven many rear wheel drive cars with huge slicks and I can tell you that with the 4 wheel drive it's a lot easy to control than the rear wheel wiggle. Inside the car it doesn't seem as bad going down the track, it just looks crazy from the outside.

Default Thanks

Yes I understand what you mean, many years ago I had a C Gas coupe that was capable of running in the high 100 teens, rear wheel drive.

I understand you may not want to go into specifics but, on the chassis setup, I was wondering if you went to solid metal suspension bushings or urethane and if you found any special alignment adjustments to keep it well behaved.

I had to redesign the rear suspension on my coupe several times before I got it so it was well mannered and quick. My problem was keeping drive lines in it, as it kept eating the rear u-joint until I got control of torque wrap up on the springs.

Thanks Greg, hats of to you for setting a record of your own. I hope we run into each other some day soon.

Hot Rod,

you are totally right the suspension is where we are working on now, we have the power, now we want to plant it down and plant it down HARD! currently our set us is totally stock with the exception of TEIN springs. that's it. We are desinging some serious drag components and should have them available by the end of the year.
Thanks, and keep the questions coming. We will beat our own record, sooner than later.

Thanks Ali,

I'll get the rest of the information up as soon as I get off work tonight.

It's not an 'official' Subaru 1/4 Mile Registry but I have a fetish for Subaru 1/4 mile times so it'll always be updated. Yep, I got issues.

Note to self: OZNOS Nitrous
The above is just info for me to remember when I get home. Thanks for the info!

I think the most impressive run was the 11.2 with no nitrous. That is simply amazing. Good job on that one.

Congratulations on your runs. Great work!

The most amazing part to me is that this car probably has a lot more left once they get more seat and tuning time with it.

Very sick indeed.

What Dogbox are you using and are you happy with it. I am sure that if whatever your using is holding up, It will hold up for me when I do all my engine work.

Congrats!
