Default The BRZ may soon have some competition... from Chevy. Code 130 R Concept.

This is exciting... fingers crossed this segment grows

They just need to put the right motor in it, 200+ hp would be nice, keep it light, and give it a better stance

$25,000 for a 150hp Chevy (yes, I know it is still a concept car, but that is the price stated)........Um, no thanks, I'll just buy a BRZ or Miata or Genesis turbo or something else.

upon closer inspection, this should have been the new Camaro.

130R I think is a reference to the most challenging section of Suzuka Circuit

That's quite a reference... hopefully the car can back up that sort of claim.

Chevy is going to miss the mark by even more than subaru/toyota.. here we go with failing small sports cars after 5 years again for them to justify not making them...

Don't you mean to say YOUR mark?

You know, the completely unrealistic and ridiculous mark that you set for the BRZ for no apparent reason other than your own personal desires?

I can't really complain about more RWD affordable cars. I'll wait until the final production model is revealed, but so far, I dig it.

If it was over 200, I would consider this. I actually really like the design.

Car and Driver says 19-20k to start. At that price it's nice, at 25k for 150hp, it's a bit silly.

But if it happens, modern 2002 FTW!!

Let's hope it has better packaging and build quality than the Sky/Solstice, but when it comes to this segment I say the more the merrier.

Now we just need Honda to drop their silly aspirations of a new NSX halo car and resurrect the S2000 as a mid-engine car. Come on, Honda, put the CTR drivetrain in the back of a new chassis a-la MR2, you know you want to.

Considering a 300hp Camaro starts at a little over 25, I'd hope this would be pretty much fully loaded at 25.

No competition. It'll weigh more then 3000 easy. If their ability to keep the weight down on the camaro is any indication they won't be able to make this reasonably light.

That is an ugly car (bad photo shop at it too).
They'd be better doing a real Z (or SS) of the Cruze

Yeah, I'm pretty sure no mainstream manufacturer wants to package MR cars again. MR2 Spyder failure is a prefect example of why not to do it.

The MR2 Spyder had two major problems which the Gen II MR2 didn't have, namely low power and no trunk. Those mistakes contributed substantially to the failure of that car and need not be repeated. I think trunk space was also a major reason the Miata outsold the Solstice, though the build quality didn't help.

It's certainly possible for some visionary auto maker to make an affordable, slightly slower, Porsche Cayman/Boxter by transplanting a good FWD drivetrain amidships.

Yeah, could definitely look better... hopefully they've worked out all the underpinnings and the styling was just a quick exercise... The lights are so minimal, they dont have much character to them. Would be cooler with a little rake... Hopefully they leave plenty of room in the rear for some wide tires if need be.

This car is hilariously ugly. I half expect to see a truck bed where the trunk lid is based on the ridiculously squared off rear end. It has the same proportions of one of my Automoblox cars.
