Here's my hack job.... LOL I bought a pillar gauge cluster on ebay a while back, and in fine print it was for a RHD. A few beers and a dremel I came up with this, I still have to do the other side for my boost gauge ( I swapped gauges and have my AEM uego in it now)

Whats it look like from the drivers seat? is it not covered by the steering wheel and at a weird angle?

Bought a Perrin FMIC kit from a friend and he had made a scoop delete out of plexi glass...

Thought it was a cool idea and found it on here but I figure if I've got a FMIC why not vent some of that underhood heat! So I made some spacers out of nylon plastic and here it sits! Also painted a 2" strip around the plexi glass to cover up the bolt holes.

With adjusted fan temps, the fmic, and the vent my car never sees above 180 and seems to bounce between 170-180 idling and cruising...

I have no record of IAT's because before this my intake went down into the fender and now it sits in the engine bay(which I hate and am trying to figure out a way to keep it from the hot temps)

It works with a sunroof because it's on top of the car and there's not a giant windshield behind it creating a high pressure region. I'd bet that you're probably sucking air in through that "vent" any time you get up to a speed where you'd actually care about what it's doing. Sucking in air there will raise the air pressure under the hood and will actually reduce (probably only very slightly) the amount of air making it through your FMIC.

I'll strap some strings into the car and snap some pictures and maybe a video...

Underhood temps are hard to get but as stated I have no before for IAT's

EDIT #1:

This is the best string I had, if I get a chance ill go grab some yarn or something tomm and try it again

This was made at 55-60-65-70mph

Sorry I know it sucks

EDIT #2:

So I changed the spacers and made it have about a 2-2 1/2" gap instead of the 1" gap and my intake temp from the MAF dropped at idle and cruising..

Before - idle:113-116* cruise:107-110*
After - idle:108-110* cruise: 90-95*

During a pull it dropped as low as 84*

Added some bling to the engine bay.

Modded an 08 Forester XT engine cover to fit my 03 X and painted it Rust-Oleum "Champagne Mist" the closest match to "Sierra Gold" in a can I could find on short notice.

Older fc rx7 owners used a similar setup by venting the windshield side of the hood to accoomplish the same thing. Nice execution

I wish I could find it but there was some actual testing done and found that using hood spacers on a Subaru how you mentioned actually caused higher temps (albeit slightly.)

The string is a decent way to see flow, just make sure they are attached on the inside of the plexi (I didn't watch the video yet)

Edit: in no way am I trying to insult you or your mod by asking for "evidence." It's just my curiosity at work. I find this sort of thing interesting. Good job so far

Well I couldnt get the plexiglass vent to open up as much as I wanted so I made a new vent out of aluminum until I can figure out how to make it out of plexiglass for the clear effect again

Here is a sneak peak while I was building it...

Debating on paint matching it to the car or not.

This is designed after the KillerB hood vent and they did testing and proved that underhood temps, coolant temp, & IAT's dropped by a few degress. Not sure on exactly how much but Chris said they dropped some so ill take his word for it...

Again ill do the string test if you all would like to see it but this vent explains itself.

EDIT: May also be selling the plexiglass vent/scoop delete if anyone is intrested...
