Hey good news, Consumer Reports named the 2013 Impreza the best Compact car, again praising its mileage for an AWD vehicle (that's two years in a row they recommend the car):

My brand new 2013 Wrx hatchback with less then 500 miles on it is getting 26.8 mpg at an average speed of 70 mph. I'm hoping to it increases after the motor is fully broke in.

Although, almost 27mpg @ 70mph seems pretty good to me

What wasn't said is if the MPG was hand calculated or the one displayed on the dash. Normally makes a difference...and... if this MPG was for the full tank or partial.

while true, my hand calculations more often than not actually beat the dash display now after having it turned down 3%

338 miles, 12.4 gallons, 100% city/suburb commute (i need to take more vacations).
27.3 MPG calculated, 28.2 dash.
25 mph avg.
Last time I got 23.2 mpg. Pretty much the same cold weather. Main difference is the commute since I don't have to drop kids at daycare anymore. Other 100% city drives were in the 23-24mpg range as well.
Not quite what I was hoping but happy with a significant jump. Drive type really does make an impact.

Agree 100% Drive type really does make have an impact.. but as you stated, not quite what you were hoping..... anybody noticing a trend??? Consider yourself lucky with what you call city/suburban your in the super zone.. Many CVT owners, not quite what they were hoping/expecting.

I would think a WRX's fuel economy would be OK if cruising on the highway at the speed limit. I wouldn't think the turbo would spool up very much at a steady 60 MPH.

"at the speed limit"...

You have to remember that speed limits vary, depending on where you are. In most of the US the maximum highway speed limit is 75 mph or higher. In Europe, it's over 80 mph.

I don't know what the fatality rate is in Europe, but it's about 1.1 per hundred million miles in the US. When you think about how long it takes to ride 100 million miles, you realize you are safer *in* your car than out of it.

Are you insinutating that Subaru motors don't last as long when you run them "not softly"? My CVT sometimes revs to 6krpm when in cruise control and I start up a hill. Is there a problem with that?

Lol you damn well know thats normal behavior.

But obviously if someone constantly beat on their car it wouldnt last as long.

Shouldn't be a problem - other than the gas usage. My almost always goes near the 6k RPM range when going onto the Interstate (lead foot).
