I hope for the best for you.
However, I can't help but wonder that you might have gotten a version that only you, or very few customers, will actually get. It would be essentially same everyone else's have, only with few tweaked values.

Just got my Walmart mobile 1 fuel economy blend 0w20 for $26.48 for a 5 qt jug. The single qts were 6.47. This is in the SF bay area, CA. May be more or less at other locals.

I'm going to try 5 qts for my first change in a few weeks and see where that hits on the dipstick.

Nice score! I always find that Walmart has the cheapest oil prices. What brand of filter are you using?

Same price at the Renton WA Walmart. I ordered 2 x 5 qt jugs online on Monday night for store pickup, but by the time I went to pick them up on Thursday they had cancelled one of them. Were all out of stock of the 5 qt jugs, but had a few 1 qt bottles left, so I picked one up to make sure I'd have enough for the oil change.

In the middle of a roadtrip. I drove 203 miles today from Philly to Penn State in State College,PA.

drove 203 miles and I used under a half a tank of gas. Just filled up for tomorrows trek to Detroit.

6.58 gallons and I averaged 31 mpg while the readout says 30.3.

The PA turnpike is not very flat and there is huge a hill coming up to state college, so I think that's pretty good. I expect better mileage when I get into Ohio since it is flatter.

Left with 612 miles and now have 818(included a drive to the gas station).

My only complaint with the car is the fact that going down hill the cars RPMS go up.

yours is pretty new, so i'm assuming you have the latest firmwares.

can you try manually shifting to a higher gear. if the hill is steep, i'm sure the CVT is trying to slow you down. it remains to be seen how aggressive is appropriate and whether the TSB firmware update is sufficient for most circumstances. (i'm guessing in some circumstances, you would want it to do some engine breaking for you by downshifting)

I would not assume that he has the latest firmware, since this is a TSB you aren't guaranteed to have it applied. The TSB for the TCM specifically prevents the agressive downshifting during decent. If it bothers him, she should go to dealer and see if the TCM has the firmware.

Wondering aloud...

Anyone out there with the base model and kept the stock wheels?

I'm guessing that the EPA mileage tests were run on a base model with lighter wheels and a lighter car overall.

Usually steelies are pretty light. the smaller size of 15 (vs 16 or 17s that are also of course 'stock') also puts the mass towards the center of the rim/wheel, which makes them easier for the car to actually put into motion. My guess would be the EPA estimates are done with the 15" steel wheels as well, and that the larger stock rim/tire combinations are chosen to get as close as possible to those numbers, though I would guess the larger sizes do have a minimal detrimental effect on real world mpg.

Other than getting the weight and/or larger diameter wheels in motion the 16/17" wheels should make no difference in mpg as long as the tire aspect decreases as the wheel diameters increase. If you measure tire height between the models/wheel option they are all most likely the same height. If they aren't than they would have the change the speedo gear for each model and wheel diameter to correct speedo error.

While on my road trip my speedo was off about 1-2%. My car would clearly show 78-79 and the gps would show 80. Which means I am getting 1-2% better mpg than what I have been calculating. But it is still bad, 29-30.x ish mpg. Still about 2.x off from the display.

Wow. The dealer we bought our car from is a little out of the way for us but for the oil and filter it is $34 with the 0w-20 synthetic and a subaru filter. since we bought the car from them they take 10% off that amount.

tire rotation is another 15 so call it $45 for oil, filter, and tire rotation. pretty reasonable.

That's about what I can do it for myself. Wow: great price. The only reason to do it yourself is if it's inconvenient to take it in.

It was measurable in my friends Honda civic before( same total diameter) the steels were lighter than the alloy wheels. I don't recall the weight differ pence, but long term he was able measure a 1-2 mpg drop in mileage.

Tried another tank using the paddle shifters. BIG mistake. MPG down 2 mpg. I guess using 50% throttle and shifting at 3000 is worse than 30% throttle, and 4500 rpm. New tank filled with premium w/o alky, see if the warmer temps give me enough extra mpg to make it worth the price.

Just did a partial fill up which was 90% interstate (I-91 between Springfield, MA and Hanover, NH, which is a pretty hilly route). Trip computer: 32.1 mpg. Calculated based on odometer: 33.3 mpg. Calculated based on 2.5% odometer error (according to GPS): 34.2 mpg. I'll take it.

2012 Impreza Limited (with CVT). I have almost 6,000 miles on it.

Ok......so I have been creeping these posts for a few weeks now and was under the impression that my mpg was ok and what I was experiencing was a bit above avg. however, I have also been keeping my eye on the engine braking and the acceleration issue. I have found now over the past week that when the car is around 65-70 and I hit a segment of my commute where I hit a significant grade on a downhill of about 2 miles, if I take my foot off the gas, the car slows down going downhill, and the rpms go up...so I am guessing I have the engine drag issue. I also tested out the acceleration issue and sure enough for the 5 times I tested it, each time I hit 40 mph, the needle in the rpm just dies...

So I am guessing I need some updates like others here. Can some one tell me exactly what I need I am heading to the dealer tomorrow at lunch? My car was delivered on 1-22 but was ordered on 12/22

I have been creeping and posting in this forum for a few weeks now. I was thinking I was having an above average experience but over the past 2 weeks I have really been paying attention to what is going on with my car.for one, I have noticed a significant engine winding and increase in rpms when going downhill. So much so that on significant downhills for about 1-2 miles, the car actually slows down as the rpms go up.

He second issue I have noticed is the acceleration issue. Each time I get on the car from a stop, when I hit 40 during speed up, the rpms die. I have also noticed the same lack of power when I decelerate into a turn and then accelerate out of it, like turning onto the highway ramp from a main road, I hit the gas after the turn and there is no response.

I am heading to the dealer tomorrow, can someone point to the 2 updates hat I need? My car was ordered on 12/22 and delivered on 1/20. When I ordered the car on 12/22, they gave me a vin which means my car was already built.

Thanks!

Mention these... email this to your service dept if you have to.

Service Bulletin # 11-113-12: TCM Reprogramming Files for Improved Drivability

Bulletin Description: This is to announce that TCM reprogramming files are now available to address a concern where, on light acceleration from a stop, the customer feels a sensation that the vehicle's rate of acceleration is trailing off, requiring more throttle input to maintain a constant level of acceleration. Note: TCM reprogramming files were sent to all SDS users in the January 2012 SSMIII Update Version 1.31.45.7.

Service Bulletin # 11-115-12: ECM Reprogramming Files to Improve Drivability

Bulletin Description: This is to announce that ECM reprogramming files are now available to optimize engine drivability while cruising and during engine braking. Note: ECM reprogramming files were sent to all SDS users in the January 2012 SSMIII Update Version 1.31.45.7.
